After reading this, it seems a good upgrade from 4gb to 8 gb. I have my 4 gb 1 month ago only, and start using vista x64 since then. But my question is, will 8 gb actually fit? These mem has a ver big heatspeader. I don't think it will fit 4 sticks.
Going back to the original post; you have 8gigs of RAM - be happy! As we should all know by now, Vista utilizes (I like that word; as it denotes efficiency and performance) RAM very well. RAM is faster than the HDs; therefore, the more RAM the computer has at its' disposal, the more it (should) will use, making your overall computing experience much more enjoyable! Remember this: you can never have too much RAM - it won't hurt anything; but, you can definitely have too little RAM and that deficiency will be very noticeable. Did I mention that DDR2 is so cheap ATM?! :toke:
Randy, I can't thank you enough! I've been enjoying my computer a LOT more with 8GBs, I would never go back to 4GBs... I love it!! Right now it's using almost 4Gbs on my desktop alone...Everything is so quick it's UNBELIEVABLE.
I've just finished upgrading from 2GB to 4GB plus Vista x64. Don't know if it is the x64 version of Vista or the additional RAM, pretty sure it is the combination of the two but Vista feels a lot better/faster.
I don't think they will fit, at least not very easily. http://www.ocztechnology.com/produc...aperx_hpc_enhanced_bandwidth_4gb_dual_channel
I have now using 61 % of my 4 GB on the desktop. I think the 8 GB will help me. Trying to find out if all togheter can fit.
I'll join the club! I've jumped on this band wagon too! I'll be buying an all new system next week and decided a long time ago to go with 8GB. I hope I enjoy it as much as you guys seem to. In reference to Mad5 asking about the OCZ Reaper X series, NO, they will not fit side by side. I asked that same question at OCZ a while back when I was trying to figure out which ram to get. OCZP10004GK is the same stick (the ones I will order) but without the huge heat veins. Does the SP1 update correct the problem of having to start Vista64 with 2gb of ram, applying a hot fix and then installing the other 6gb or did you guys still have to do that?
I install with 4 gb right away. Even with a little oc, no problem at all. And thanks for the info. Seems going to sell my kit.
My 8GBs are using 5700Mbs on my desktop right now, haven't rebooted in like 3 days.I noticed the vista sidebar uses over 1GB by itself, pretty insane.
