Thanks for letting us know, chispy.
Cheers Sava700
Yea, thanks Sava700!
Installed. All fine and dandy.
I swear the system is much better performing, could be a placebo effect though..
Dang that sp2 is bigger then my stripped down vista x86 + sp1 + updates + drivers + base apps on my 700mb CD which takes a whole 15mins to do a fresh install.
Oh well off to slipstream sp2 and strip again, hope I can stay on a CD install...lol
For 750mb sp2 it'd wanna make my vista act like a new os and crisp and glitch free.
welcome guys.. I installed it on two computers with a notice of performance increase thus far. One of them was a laptop and for some reason the shut down hung on it but not sure if that was from the service pack or what. On the other rig I had to reinstall Vantage cause of a missing dll file but I think that was my fault early on from removing something...otherwise no issues and it runs good. Installed pretty quick too at least on a quad core system noted to the left.
Music and film companies would say it does
I'm not funny i'm just scared to experiment :funny:
does it contain all the previous updates including SP1??? is it ok to install it from vanilla???
No, you need to have SP1 installed prior to installing SP2.
if you got vista vanilla is ok to download the SP1 exe from microsoft and install it and then download sp2 exe and install it right?
SP1.exe -> all updates from vanilla to SP1
SP2.exe -> all updates from SP1 to SP2
is this correct??
Yeh thats what i did.
Windows will just download any additional updates that it might need besides that, but generally speaking: yes.
im asking in case i format again to avoid all that windows update and reboots
That's the proper way to do it, subfire91. Install Vista, then SP1, then SP2, then run Windows update again, to see if there are any further updates.
The ISO's to 32 and 64bit for Vista SP2 are out now.... I've already made new disks and tossed my old ones. ( good to have when you do reinstalls for people on the side ;0 )
Sp2 installed in 30 min and it works like a charm
not much of a difference... memory management seems better
Overall vista experience feels snappier and a tiny faster.
Installed sp2, really don't notice a difference right now.
