Hi, I was running a genuine copy of Vista Business x64 with no problems, all drivers installed etc. I then downloaded and installed SP1 RTM and again no problems until my screen flashed and then suddenly aero was disabled; I am stuck to "basic", there are no options on the properties to access aero and only classic and basic etc are available. Reinstalled catalyst 8.1, used driver cleaner and still no luck, uninstalled SP1, installed cat 8.1 and still no luck. It isn't reduced functionality or anything like that, everything is fine apart from aero. Has anyone had this problem, and if so maybe a solution to get this fixed. Thanks!
run the evaluation perfomance I dont know what is correct name in english, in spanish is evaluacion de rendimiento.
Uninstalled/reinstalled mobo drivers, updated evaluation score which is at 5.2, and reinstalled cat 8.1 and still nothing. I cannot even find any sites where this problem is mentioned at all either for a solution. It must be a problem with mine and nobody elses :bang:
Is there no Aero option in Personallize > window color and appearance > classic appearance properties?
Vista is already fully activated, after the SP1 install it was fine for a round 15 minutes, then all of a sudden the screen flickered and I was in basic. It's definitely not reduced functionality either. In the appearance settings it lists Windows standard/classic and Vista Basic, no aero is mentioned at all. It's not a big deal really, everything else works fully and I'm not having any problems, it's just a little annoying how its disappeared altogether.
Tried the experience test again and still nothing, even validated Vista through WGA to make sure everything was fine and it passed validation as normal *sigh*
really strange indeed. i know ive had this problem b4, but cant really remember how it got solved. i thought it was the video drivers at my end. but guess im wrong
Well I tried another uninstall/reinstall of ATI drivers, still nothing, everything is fine but Aero. I really don't want to reinstall Vista or SP1 again, I've already done that before and it does the same thing. I guess somebody else will eventually have that problem and their should be a solution to it eventually. I'll stick with basic for now **cries**
I can't say if it's related and the fact that i haven't heard of others having this issue, this time around, make me think it's not. But there was a issue at one point with the RC, not sure if it's related or not but some lost Aero (and the control panel).
