Words that are surely heard often here. Out of nowhere, every time I open the "My documents" folder, windows explorer decides to crash, and restart. Just that folder. None other. Any ideas?

Just going to state the obvious at first, but in case you haven't run a spyware and virus scan.

Nah, My computer scans on a nightly basis. I think there is a avi file in there though. Being in there long enough to delete it is the problem.

    u can use cmd prompt.

I believe it will be the avi file doing it.

    Try installing a Codec Pack

Did you by chance install it on an overclocked system? If your system was even slightly unstable during installation it could cause a corrupt install. I know because it happened to me...my RAM was timings were too low. When I finally got Vista running it was doing all kinds of quirky things...like crashing, etc.

Anyhow, if you did install on an overclocked system try reinstalling at stock speeds/timings. Vista is very sensitive during install in my experience.

I agree with the others, sounds like an Avi or something else that likes to show a preview.

I've found it best to just leave everything on Details, that way it doesn't try to do things like that.

You can turn that off too under the Folder options.
