    Hi everyone,

I've recently purchased 4Gb of ram and as you might imagine I quickly came accross the 4Gb = ~3Gb problem on 32bit OS's.

My question is then, can anyone advise me on what the general level of compatability is with Vista and XP 64 bit these days? Is it worth the change or will I just get no end of grief?

I use my machine for Software Development and playing modern games.

I also have an SLI setup (7800GTX) if that makes any difference

Thanks to anyone who can advise

    Best Regards

    Simon

Definetly make the switch to 64 bit Vista. I am running the 64 bit edition of Vista for about 6 months now and I really love it ( it has support for every game I have played, I can develop for 64 bit now, it is faster and it has support for 4GB or more RAM ). Just make sure that there are 64 bit Vista drivers for all your hardware.

Yeah, I use the Vista64 bit edition too, it is alright, or at least not worse than the 32 bit edition. Don't use the XP 64 bit edition, I don't recommend it.

64bit XP will be even less supported than Vista.

I think 64bit Vista is slightly better than it's 32bit counterpart too.
I haven't run into any issues with it yet from any of my Apps.

Some Apps that install drivers onto the system. Virtual Image programs, older burning etc, some of those might give you trouble, so try to get updated versions of those.

Apart from that, pretty trouble free.
