http://www.howtogeek.com/reviews/vipre-anti-virus-anti-spyware/ Never heard of tbh, but installed it today just out of curiosity. So far looks good... Interface really simple to understand, no unnecesary stuff, just the basics.. Not to resource hungry aswell.. Anyone here using it? Edit: and the best thing: 1 year license for 1 pc = 29.95$ 1 year license for unlimited pcs = 49.95$
Not one I've heard of....I don't really rate their site much either fwiw....(personal opinion ...) Lol - did you notice this:
No didn't notice it o0 Anyways, I've been, and maybe still am looking for a new Antivirus - Antispyware... Been using Kaspersky for 2 years now, but it's just too resource hungry.. Got Ad-Aware PRO not long ago, but it's interfering with another program that I use almost daily.. This Vipre looks good for now, but if anyone got any better and not "too expensive" recommendations, I listen.. But Kaspersky, Norton, Nod32, Ad-Aware and McAffe are a no-go for me.. I want a simple interface.. a good realtime protection, must be userfriendly, and it must not consume much resources.. even during scanning..
So far Avast has been the best for me, its free and it works well. Catches stuff on my kids computer and so far has kept it free of crap. Never had any issues with it an my main rig. Pay for a virus scanner? That's for suckers! lol
You'd love the one I have then - it doesn't use any resources at all. It's simple, friendly, and best of all it's free!!
i`d been using Avast for a year or so, but thought i`d try Microsoft Security Essentials (Free from M$) and i quite like it, its light weight, does the job intended and easy to use
Many antivirus are light today but insufficient. I have tried them on many different configurations and this is my opinion. -Avast free edition ... its free , light , good virus detection, crapy spyware detection , it can be shutdown by spyware-rootkits and its not good to be used to clean infected computers -AVG Free same as above with a little better spyware detection , but it can still be shutdown by spyware-rootkits -Norton 2010 , Symantec Endpoint Protection , very light , very good virus detection, good spyware detection , but vulnerable to spyware-rootkits , it cannot be killed by spywares but it cannot detect all common spyware. Average for cleaning already infected systems, must be combined with dedicated antispyware software. -Avira Free , Very light , excellent detection on virus , antispyware , many many false alarms (just don't use keygens or other illegal software). Its no easy killable from spyware , very good to clean infected systems in safe mode. -Microsoft security essentials , very light , i haven't tested thoroughly but the first impressions are good. It can catch spyware that Symantec cannot. For antispyware i have tested Malwarebytes , Spyware Doctor , Webroot. Malware is excellent performance/detection ratio , but it can miss some rootkits Spyware doctor is very good on detection but veeeery slow and heavy engine. Webroot is medium on speed but almost perfect detection for spyware.
