Might as well grab a GTX560. It's faster than the GTX460, and almost as fast as the HD6950 in most games.

No its not, 560s competitor is the 6870, not the 6950. The 560Ti is about on par with the 6950, except for titles that use more vram than the 560Ti has

460 is a good card; just stay away form those with 1GB 192-bit memory, because it seems to be the same hack-job method they used with 550 Ti.

    Go for 256-bit.

What a mess. How about a simple review.

560 (non-Ti) competes with 6870, even comes up a little bit short.

It would never be 1gb at 192 bit bus. 768 mb

Actually it's a GF116 (550 Ti) thing. That's when I saw it for the first time. GF104 had either 192-bit / 768MB, or 256-bit / 1GB. This 192 / 1GB thing is new and useless. I guess they did it to save some pennies.

I was right originally before the 460 192 edition was released. did not know they released that @ Lavans a 560 non ti competitor is a 6870. it is basically just an oc 460. the 560 ti can keep up with a 6950 as long as vram is not a problem. then it lags behind a 6950

You should look at those benchmarks again....

The 560 benched up to 39fps less than the 6950, with the average difference more like 15fps.

I'd say those two cards weren't even in the same race....

Just so long as Unwinder et al continue to develop Afterburner, I'll be staying with my trusty GTX 470 for a while yet. ;)
Mind you, it really stretched my wallet to the limit when I bought it new.
Thought I must have taken a crazy turn.
But now you can get them for pocket change. :)

Crysis Warhead - 8 FPS difference HD6950 favor
    Metro - 9 FPS difference HD6950 favor
    Dirt 3 - 2 FPS difference HD6950 favor
Total war - 10 FPS difference HD6950 favor
Arkham City - 14 FPS difference HD6950 favor
    Portal 2 - 7 FPS difference HD6950 favor
    BF3 - 2 FPS difference HD6950 favor
    Skyrim - 13 FPS difference HD6950 favor
    Civ 5 - 10 FPS difference GTX560 favor

    Do the math. 8+9+2+10+14+7+2+13-10 / 9 = 6.1 FPS difference on average.

This is all based off the Anandtech benchmarks, looking only at the results at max resolution for the listed games. I guess you need to point out where the HD6950 is on average 15+ FPS faster than the GTX560, because I'm not seeing it.

    Oh please.

There are a total of 22 game benchmarks on that page - you posted 9 cherry picked examples that support your POV.

Wrong. Read it again. Most of those benchmarks are the same games at different resolutions. I will admit, I looked over the SC2 benchmark, which has an 8 FPS difference in favor of the GTX560.

So what? A bench is still a bench, even if the same game was used more than once the results are still valid.

You're trippin' dude, the second SC2 test has the 560 nearly 40fps slower than the 6950. Do I really have to take a screenshot of the entire page and post it here for all to see?

I have better things to do, like gaming - and this is distracting me.
