So after i got this RX 480 (second one, first one died and is currently being repaired)
And i found out that PUBG runs terrible, while it shouldn't cause i asked around and nobody seems to have a problem running this game at 60+ fps.

I run at 2560x1080, with settings on lowest settings atm to get it above 40fps most of the times.
People keep telling me on steam that it's my RAM, but it's a fact that more or less ram performs the same unless you run single channel.
The only issue i know of with 8gb ram is few seconds freezes and microstutters at the start of the game but that goes away pretty quickly.

So i'm completely baffled why it runs so damn terrible.
I've already installed a clean OS and the issue remains.

I made some screenshots in-game with afterburner running: https://imgur.com/a/NT6Ko
Even a couple months back running a G4560 and GTX 680 it ran so much better then this.

    I don't get particularly better fps at 1920x1080p on a gtx 970.

Turn down the resolution by using the scaler, try it at like 0.7

I've been under the impression that the game usually runs like crap. Not DayZ level of crap but something a bit above that.

AMD runs particularly worse than NV equivalent.
Lack of optimization is the reason here.

Yea that helps, game doesn't look all that bad with lower scale.

But it's still weird or people are downright lying i don't know...

True, but it runs that bad even on lowest settings, when i look up video's with this GPU they have no issues running it on high.

2560x1080 is a lot more pixels to drive.

Just a quick glance on youtube shows RX480 getting 45-60fps at 1080P on a mix of medium-high settings,

At ultra the card can't hold 30fps.

Ah you're right about that, someone on steam was bragging that his RX 580 runs it at 60fps capped at 1440p.
But a RX 580 is roughly 5-10fps faster, so i didn't really believed him in the first place.

Try with Ultra (or lower) AA what you see best, Ultra View distance, Ultra or Hight textures (8 or 4 vram), very low post proces. and low on everything else.

Thats the best config for me and IQ its good enogh.

Your Fury X is still way faster though then a RX 480. :p

But i use same config as yours, but this time disabled AA.

I have yet to see a machine where PUBG doesn't have rubbish performance...

Well it ran perfectly fine on my 780 Ti, 60+ all the time no matter where i was located...

Unless you run the game at 1440p or higher then it's a different story. :p
I've seen the 1070/1080 having no problem at that resolution with few dips to 50-55fps wich is acceptable enough.

Update your windows to the FCU. After the update i saw a good increase in FPS, the only thing still persits are the dips.

I guess I'm spoiled by the likes of CS and OW. Frame rate always locked at 140FPS (gsync) 100% of the time, no input lag, no stutter, high details, 1440p, just perfect. Compared to that, BUBG felt like crap.

But again, I'm just spoiled and got used to these other games too much :p

No need mate, i already have a Vega 56 all isues are gone. Just for performance sake i ran the game at high settings and i'm pleased to report it can hold 70+fps most of the time with some dips below 50s.
But everyone runs the game at low or medium anyway like i did so i'm good now and happy with my purchase. :D

That totally doable. I previously had a R9 290 and the game was mostly hovering around 80-90 fps at 1440p after the forced shadows update. Stutter low's were around 50-55 and high's were 110+fps. It's all about the game profile/ini tweaks. There's so many settings in the PUBG UE4 settings that are cranked up to stupid values that they kill the CPU and fps because of that. Mainly asset LOD at distance.
