M5 E39 didn't have auto trans?
It isn't a genuine V8 M5, it's a 530i. The real-deal 300kw M5's sell for $35K in NZ - if u can find one.....
In 2003 an M-Sport option was available for the 530i/535i/540 which gave them pretty much everything an M5 had except for the engine, quad exhaust and boot badge/spoiler lip.
Here's a 2003 530i M-sport - look closely at the door sill.
But a 6 speed SMG Steptronic was an option for the 2003 M5's as well.
i made the deal with BMW.
5.20i it is. M package. and some other options. they will expert my freelander 2 . hope it wont be a lame price.
Replaced ignition coils. I wish I had the knowledge and tools (and a friggin garage!) to take the engine out. It would be much easier to work on. Also it's very dirty from a coolant hose leak from the previous owner and I really want to clean it.
@FULMTL, I was wondering if other people did that ... while I was doing engine work and the head gasket on my 280zx I was climbing in the engine bay like that too. Newer cars are so large its easier to do that!
Even just checking the oil in my cramped garage I'll climb up on the strut tower to reach the side of the motor.
For some reason, with this car, everything on the drivers side is just hard to get to. Friggin Subaru and their horizontal engines...
Well, I hope I am not making a mistake.
fckers gave very sht value for my freelander 2. i think i will cancel the deal and take my money back. fckers.
edit: yup canceled my order. motherfckers.
back to the track...boom boom vroom vroom. Street tires drove to and from track. No drag radials or slicks. 1.8 60 foot. 0-95mph in 7.7 seconds. Lucky if some cars get to 60 by then
6 speed manual
Headers/Tune/Suspension mods that's it
First of all, congratulations for the beautiful Vette.
Sorry for the silly question, but is that the 6.2L v8 with 430HP, 6.2L v8 with 638HP, or the 7.0L v8 with 505HP? and how many HP is it delivering now with the mods?
thanks man! I have the LS3 it's the 6.2L V8 with 436hp stock (came with the NPP muffler). I've modified it to put down around 440rwhp so about 515hp or so at the motor.
The 7.0L V8 with 505hp is the Z06. In reality it puts down about 460-470rwhp stock so it's closer to really 550hp. The 638hp is the supercharged ZR1.
Mine is the "base model". I got about 95% of a Z06's straight line punch right now as is and with the suspension upgrades I should be close in handling with one too.
Here's one of my track passes last night.
Here's it going through a tunnel...
Here's the acceleration one night for the hell of it...
Awesome car man, I see you really enjoy it. I had a '98 Mustang GT (4.6l V8, 8 Valve, 225HP stock) with the cobra supercharger on it, K&N cold air intake, full borla exhaust kit, Nology coils, cables and spark plugs, Computer was upgraded, 18" wheels, xenon lights. but it was the 5 speed automatic version, so it had power but it wasn't as raw as with the manual transmision. Still, with all of that, it was making less than 450rwhp, but it really had LOADS of torque at all rpm. Bought it with 40k kilometers, sold it when it was 130K. Now I drive a motorcycle 90% of the time.
Though I would love to have one like these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68lqxIkvO5k
Still can't believe some moron around here actually traded in a ZR1 on a Nissan GTR. What kind of stupid move is that?
1.8sec 0-60...is something I have yet to experience in life.
That's awesome it's all about having fun with this hobby! The non-PI 4.6 (96-98) were really limited with the stock heads IIRC. Did you ever run the car at the track? That automatic of those years I remember was a power muncher.
As for that video, those C7 guys are sick. I'm probably going to leave my car alone for now in the performance department. I can later either go cam (and sound like those guys in that video), go forced induction (twin turbo or supercharger) but then I start going to power levels where I'm going to be fighting for traction (550hp+ with cam and over 700hp with forced induction at the motor)
I'm really in the high 3 second range for 0-60. I had a 1.8 60' time which means the amount of time it took me to go the first 60 feet on the drag strip. Most performance cars with a street tire will be lucky to hit sub 2.0sec range and you're "normal cars" are probably around a 2.2 to 2.4 range if they really tried.
Not a stupid move, I prefer the GTR over ZR1 both are good cars on their own merit tbh.
