    COOK COUNTY, Ill. A lawsuit filed yesterday seeks more than $30,000 in damages after a woman claims she fell off the toilet in a south side McDonald's, sustaining permanent injuries.

    Cherry Hardie alleges she was seated on the toilet in the women's restroom at 7601 S. Vincennes Ave. on March 12, 2010, when the toilet seat fell off the toilet. She says she then lost her balance, and as she fell, she reached for the wall of the stall "and sustained a severe injury to her left arm/shoulder when her arm/shoulder came into contact with said wall."

    The lawsuit claims the restaurant "carelessly and negligently failed to place railings/baricades around the perimeter of the women's restroom stall with a broken toilet seat" leading to Hardie's claims that she was injured, suffered a severe shock to her nervous system and became permanently disabled.

    McDonald's Franchisee, Phil Douglas, said in a statement, "While I am aware of this matter, I have not been served with a lawsuit. The safety and security of our customers is a priority. Beyond that, it would be inappropriate to further comment or speculate on a pending legal matter."
