Valve will be showing a SteamVR hardware system at next week's GDC in San Francisco. There was gossip on this for a while now, virtual reality projects that is. So we'll see what next week offers. I...

So VR is the new 3D then? It's not like VR (along with 3D) has tried to be mainstream before and failed. Still, new tech is new tech and I'll take a looksee although if the "steam machine" was anything to go by I'll take it with a heavy handed pinch of salt.

I would take VR 3D even if just for comfortable watching of movies.
I have played more than few games in 3D, And it is very good experience. HL2 was quite fun.

But I am pretty sure that 1st company to come with consumer product with 1440p screen at sub $500 gets most of sales.

I have played at 1080p line interleaved and while you have only 1/2 of pixels per eye, 3D gave better experience than 2D 1080p. 1440p brings 1.78x pixel count per eye, nearly matching 1080p and that is more than sufficient (considering HW limitations).
