Ok, nice and all.. but why exactly is this in the news section? Are we going to post every release of a new program here?
Nice, a new version. Only problem with private trackers is that you have to wait for the approved list, so I always hold off on updates for at least a week.
really? I never had to wait (using private trackers too).
Very anxious for uTorrent 3.0 'Falcon' - Still in Alpha, but they seem to be making a lot of progress and they've just recently announced a 64-bit version of it.
I'm still on a very old 1.6 and always click no for updates. Is there much difference or benefit to upgrading a torrent client?
Just installed it, looks the same as 2.2 not a fan of their latest giant toolbar icons
Yeah same, they need something more discrete and quality looking, even if that means just toning down the colours, it looks like someone had fun with crayons at the moment.
Problem I have with utorrent is the program will grab every single TCP and UDP port it can find up to the limit of your router/modem. In my case this being the POS Qwest 2Wire unit which limits you a max of 1024 open sessions. I had to change the session time out for UDP ports to 30 seconds or every time my nephew would decide to uh 'borrow' another game or uh 'preview' another movie it would kill the net.
Get into the router and restrict the traffic flow based on the IP# your nephew is using..I do this to my wife so it doesn't hurt my gaming - DGL-4300 here and works great with that Game Fuel tech built in.
not much. Maybe new services and such (for example, max gb per month count and such), but for basic funcionality (downloading torrents) i doubt it.
And maybe a few optimizations
I use remote desktop so no need to have web controls
No can do on the one Qwest provides. It's not the bandwidth as I have him limit that to 30k on the torrent client. It's the number of sessions it uses which just kills the latency and causes timeout. The best I could get out here was 1.5mb DSL and that was with 3 days of line conditioning. Still beats the crap out of WildBlue Sat internet.
Anything over version 1.8.5 (aka 2+) just kills my download speeds for some odd reason so I just avoid them. My current version works wonders so why change?
