Hello gurus, As I posted the Guide for those ready to make the switch to Linux gaming thread, it was obvious that for those wanting to make the switch, software, or the lack of what to use for* is holding them from taking the plunge. Therefore, I create this thread where to post useful, GUI software alternatives needed in Linux for every task is needed. One cay say that I could post that information in my previous thread, and it would be both right and wrong. Right, because it involves software for Linux, wrong because it will generate discussions who will derail the thread from its proposed trajectory. I'll post whatever software I know and use day in, day out in my Linux computer and add some more that could be useful. However, every guru is invited to post information meaningful for this thread. gamescope You can use it to set higher resolution than your native resolution is (so something like Virtual Super Resolution) to see less aliasing + you can also use FSR 1.0 or NIS 1.0.3 with it. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/gamescope https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Gamescope I'm not sure if it works with all games, you need to test it.
BlueMail: https://snapcraft.io/bluemail Make sure you use the snap version. For some reason the flatpak version refuses to let me log into gmail. Other people based off of my Googling also have the same issue.
If anyone decides to go Manjaro you can install Mangohud along with Lutris through the package/app manager.
After spending a couple days trying to get vkbasalt to work or even install I came across this: https://github.com/kevinlekiller/reshade-steam-proton Reshade for Steam proton games.
confirmed working on games running through Lutris After installing Reshade-Steam-Proton to the games directory where the main .exe is located follow these steps: Confirmed working in Battlefield 4. Honestly this makes vkBasalt very unnecessary.
