Hey guys, I got a major problem here and I need you guys to give me some pointers (please don't give me address pointers ). My aunt recently got an NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT (eVGA one) for her media centre. She's using an S-Video to output to her SDTV. The cable itself is this one: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=98_104&item_id=24571L and I can't for the life of me figure out how to force the NVIDIA control panel to force TV out on this driver. I know for the AMD drivers, they do TV detection automatically but I can't find this on the NVIDIA driver so some odd reason. If I just connect the computer directly to TV, all I get is a blank black screen with no output from my computer, so the only way I'm doing this right now is using my aunt's LCD panel but I can't find the option. Is there a way to set this up without dual screens because that's not what she wants. She just wants to use that SDTV only with no additional screens. Can you guys please tell me what to do? Cheers, deltatux
Yes, I've tried that as well. The thing is that it seems that with the NVIDIA driver, this issue happens but if i completely remove the driver, the stock low resolution VGA driver works fine with the S-Video. So there's an inherent problem with said driver. Now, is there a way to force the driver to recognize said TV or do I have to use a second monitor to get this thing working...? deltatux
tried everything, finally gave up and swapped my brother's (my old) Radeon HD 3650 with the GeForce 9500GT and put the GeForce in my brother's rig instead. Lesson de jour ... NVIDIA sucks at handling S-Video/component video. Thanks anyways, deltatux
Not true... It's doable but not through the nVidia control panel.. Use the one in Windows 7.. Hit the "indentify" button and the monitor should appear.. if not add it manually.. The only downside I've experienced is that sometimes after a reboot the monitor is gone again..
:cops: A TV problem and you have not mentioned the manufacturer and model of the TV. :cops: Can you go DVI -> S-Video cable? Search it on Google.
Windows-key + P will bring up the multi-monitor menu in Windows 7. If windows can see a display hooked up to the S-video port, you should be able to use it. But I don't think you can with Windows 7. You may have to roll your aunt's machine back to Windows XP to get it to do S-video out.
:cops: Sometimes when you locate the TV's manual online it will tell what resolutions and refresh rates and video formats it supports when different things are connected to the different connectors.
