I have an older laptop that I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows 10 and I plan to purchase through URCDKey since it's promoted on this site. I want to know if anyone here has bought from them before, and what the experience was like. Thanks for any replies.

I have, and many keys. Most have worked (4 or 5) but two keys failed. Although I tried to use these two long after the purchase.

Can you PM me some names of sellers on ebay? You know, the ones you trust for this sort of thing. Thanks in advance.

It's funny, I thought that Windows 10 became free of charge about two-three years ago...but I just looked it up and yeah, it costs.

    Just reflecting, pay no mind.

Don't you still have any Windows 7/8/8.1 key laying around? It still works and gives you a valid license. Just enter the key during setup (or later) and activate online.

I grabbed a win10 Pro key from there for $11 about 2 weeks ago. Worked fine.

The laptop in question has Windows 7 Pro. I just figured they weren't allowing Win10 upgrades on those for free anymore.

Googling "windows 10 activation site:guru3d.com" yields my thread. :D

    https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-10-activation-methods-overview.421057/

Try method 4 first (faster) then try method 3 if no luck. Method 3 takes more time to do than 4.

    You're welcome. :)

Otherwise I can recommend the "free key service" in the buy/sell/trade category, too ( as @gerardfraser already mentioned). But with a Win7 key you shouldn't need it.

EDIT: Please note the "in-place upgrade" from the currently used OS is not possible anymore, probably you meant that? But other ways OR doing it manually (method 3) does work. Both ways described above are clean installs.
