z590 and more like 10850k, I mean it's the same bar 100Mhz in clock speeds so why not save some beer tokens.
(And no, you won't notice the missing Mhz...)

10700K is enough, even 10600k is. But 10700K for more futureproof.

Although I would get a cheap 10500 now and then upgrade to RocketLake 11900KF later. It should still be ok for now, just get a fast 3600mhz CL16 Samsung-B die ram (e.g. G.skill neoZ) and you're good to go.

I played it safe and got a z490 MSI unify to be as futureproof as possible, has all pcie4.0 and newest wifi, usb 2x2 etc., most importantly it has super strong VRM, 90A 16phase, with active cooling.
Ok I know this 6core 10500 is not stressing it much, but the max I saw it was 43C. I even OC'ed it a little, cpu pcie 102.50 makes it at 4303mhz all core instead of 4200..:D

I will swap later with Rocketlake when prices settle a bit, maybe i'll even get 11900KF instead of 11700KF. I like the sound of that boost on boost on boost with 11900K, I won't need to OC at all then lol

For gaming right now, go for either a 10600k and z490 or a 5600 and x570 depending on your budget.
11400f and b560 is a good option too.

Depends how long you plan to keep it really. How often do you upgrade?

Personally, I'm 2 years overdue on my 5 year upgrade cycle!
GPU was, and still is, the snagging point for me.
No point upgrading CPU with my current GPU ---> GPU upgrade not worth the price with Nvidia 20 series ---> Nvidia 30 series worth the price, but not available!
