in recent events and thanks to the help of a bunch of people here, tommorowi will be returning my current gainward 6600gt gs. rather than replacing the same card i'm thinking of paying some extra and upgrading. my budget is limited so here are my options:

    1. VGA PCI-E GAINWARD, BLISS 6800GS PCX 512 DT, Geforce 6800 GS, 512 MB, tv-out, DVI, 256 bit

    2. VGA PCI-E LEADTEK, WinFast PX7600 GT TDH, Geforce 7600 GT, 256 MB, tv-out, Dual DVI, 128 bit

    3. VGA PCI-E SAPPHIRE ATI Radeon X1800 GTO LR, 256 MB, VIVO, Dual DVI

    4. VGA PCI-E CLUB 3D ATI Radeon X1600 XT, 256 MB, tv-out, Dual DVI

    6. VGA PCI-E SAPPHIRE ATI Radeon X800 , 256 MB, tv-out, DVI, bulk

so take your pick those of you that now better. i'm kinda drawn to bliss 6800gs :)

i think they both have 128 bit memory. bliss 6800 has 256bit and 512mb, isn't that better? :frown:

Not always, but the 7600GT is slightly better than a Regular 6800GS and the 7600 also is about even with a 1800GTO(I think...).

    Hi,

the 6800gs is a no go, because it is almost from the same generation cards like your current 6600gt.

The x1600xt is also a no go, because it is quite slow; It is a little faster than your current 6600gt, and the 6600gt wil run a lot faster on opengl based games like doom3, quake 4. But then again in FEAR the x1600xt will be faster, thanks to its many pixelshaders.

The x800 is also a no go, because the x800 and even the pro version with 12 pipelines is not really faster than a 6800 vanilla and a 6800 vanilla is a little faster than a 6600gt. Furthermore the X800 lacks pixelshader 3.0, many games in the future will not run correctly or even not at all. Normally you get a "gray outs" in the graphical option in future games (the less worse scenario).

The choice is really between the x1800gto and the 7600gt. Both are currently the most powerful mid-end card with almost the same pricetag. I tend to choose the x1800gto because its 256 bit memory interface. theoretically, games will run faster with a 256bit memory interface. But the 7600gt has faster memory 1400 mhz although 128bit memory versus the X1800gto 1000 mhz 256 bit memory. Both cards are very good, and they outperform each other in different games. The margins are really small. the choice is really difficult between the two cards.

    x1800gto
Pro's: avivo, 256 bit memory, better quality performance when using anti-aliasing, very good image quality, professional video quality, crossfire capability, HDR and anti-aliasing at the same time.

Cons: most of the less known games will suffer in performance (but not all the games), loud vga cooler fan, runs less fast in opengl games.

    GF 7600gt
Pro's: a lot of beta drivers update in a short period, better support for the less known games which will result in more stable and faster game, doom3 engine friendly, SLI capability, faster H.264 support which means a lower cpu load.

Cons: no avivo, only 128bit memory, . Nvidia pure video cost money.

    Wish you good luck!

I'd say 7900gt but it's not in your list ...

so x1800gto could be nice it can do HDR and AA at the same time ... (framerate when both still on ...)

maybe you can find an 7800GT al lower price :)

it will beat them all ;) for sure but 7900gt is better
