your beliefs do not deceive you...

grab at it , they're cheaper now. although q9550's might be all e0's now too. you will just have a lower multi.

Why is the Q9550 E0 and C1 but the Q9650 is only E0?

New Intel Extreme Edition chips will likely cost in the ~$900+ USD range. Search for an Intel Core i7 975 now and you wont likely see one for much less then ~$1000 USD. The same will likely hold true for the Intel Core i9.

Right now, many people can buy an Intel Core i7 920 for ~$199.99 USD (Microcenter) and a few entry level X58 motherboards can be had for approximately ~$169.99 (Microcenter too). I sincerely doubt that an Intel Core i5 750 would come in significantly under ~$199.99. In fact the MSRP will likely be inflated by retailers / e-tailers in the first few weeks and months. I also sincerely doubt that P55 based motherboards will be significantly lower then ~$169.99 after rebate or otherwise and again, inflated prices are likely.

As for the price difference between RAM for the i7 and the i5. Well, technically there is no difference.

heck i run any game at 1080p on my little 2 core 8400. but most games i've played make use of my gpu than my cpu anyway, gta 4 is the only game i have that gets no more than 30fps whic is smooth enough for me.

The LGA 1156 i7's are merely overclocked i5's with HT support. You have to go 1366 to get a true i7 with triple channel DDR3 support.
