so, you all can see my current system in my profile. unfortunately, my watercooler died, so that is no more. i would be getting the same watercooler, case, powersupply no matter what option i choose, so those are not an issue. what i do need help in choosing, is what processor(s), mobo and ram i chould get.

here are what i have been thinking for upgrades:

    option 1:
opteron server mobo with dual opteron processors (4 cores)
    4gb ecc registered ddr2-800 ram
    sli is possible in future
    cost: 1700

    option 2:
quad fx system with dual fx-72 socket 1207fx processors (4 cores)
    4gb ddr2-800
    sli is possible in future
    cost: 1800

    option 3:
server mobo with dual xeon 5310 quad core processors (8 cores)
    4gb ecc registered ddr2-800 ram
    no sli possible
    cost: 2000

    option 4:
upgrade current processor to a socket 775 quad core q6600 (4 cores)
    add 2 more gb memory
maybe add second 8800gtx and go sli?
cost: 1300 (without getting second 8800gtx), 1800 with second 8800gtx.

thanks for your thoughts. although, i would never buy that ram. i dont settle for less than ddr2-800, and usually never less than ddr2-900.

Infested is like a one man army, seriously. He has answers to everything and always has backup proof.
