    I've been out of folding for just over a year now....finances and life just don't permit me to do it....hopefully I'll find a new job soon that will allow me to resume =\

    A good motto is "Don't fold on everything you have, fold on what you can afford to fold on".

    Right now that might be nothing, but you've added a huge contribution to the team thus far, and when you can afford to fold start back up!

    P.S. in the mean time i'll be mowing you over, sorry!

    No Hilbert I didn't do auto-update per-say I let it D/L the update but I choose what gets installed and the 4 that were there looked pretty innocent just some security updates and the obligatory monthly MSRT ... It wanted to restart the PC so I diligently went into F@H and paused all slots waited till it said they were stopped I then exited the F@H client and rebooted and that's when it hit the fan

    another rig down now for memory testing(q9550 and 260 down) this power outage has taken them all out at one point, the bigadv rig in now only folding on smp untill i can work out what it doing wrong :bang::bang:

    That Sucks, it always annoying when you loose stuff like this. It may be possible that the surge effected the stability of your OC, you might want to tone it down a little bit and see if that helps.

    Too bad I wasn't having issues of my own on production, or I might finally get a chance to gain on you.

    yep it all fun and games, yer ive already moved the 970 to 4.2 for now while im looking in to better cooling ive also upped the vcore and NB voltages on the q9550 system to see if that has stabilised it and so far so good no bigadv clinet at the mo tho just smp A3

    Updating to the new v7 Beta halved my PPD. No more bigadv for me. :(

    AFAIK, the V7 uses the same FahCores for the bigadv WUs so your PPD shouldn't be effected at all. Can you please elaborate and provide logs?

    Already used the quide. Wouldn't have ever started folding without Panthers guides... :)
    And I know it shouldn't have changed but...

    <!-- Folding Slots -->
    <slot id='0' type='SMP'>
    <client-type v='bigadv'/>
    <cpus v='7'/>
    <max-packet-size v='big'/>
    <pause-on-start v='true'/>
    </slot>
    <slot id='1' type='GPU'>
    <client-type v='advanced'/>
    <pause-on-start v='true'/>
    </slot>

    And the rig is a Xeon W3520 and a Quadro FX580 both running stock.

    You can take a wild guess when I changed to the new client. :D

    are you using process lasso to control what smp core V7 uses and what the gpu uses

    No. Haven't had the need for it in the past.

    Ah... I think I have a "simple" solution for you:
    Step 1 -> Stop the GPU Slot
    Step 2 -> Reconfigure the SMP Slot with 8 CPUs instead of 7
    Step 3 -> Wait for bigadv to be assigned to you.

    Now, I think that it should solve the issue of bigadv on your system so please report back.

    Actually the "simple" solution would be to use the old clients. :p

    I can try it if it will do someone else good or just for curiosity.
    Running with all 8 tend to slow down the machine a bit too much.

    Don't care that much about the PPD (anymore).
    Just found it a bit weird that it has changed when in theory everything should have stayed the same. :)

    Actually in theory all bigadv SMP WU's are supposed to be done on 8 core CPUs anyways now they're just enforcing that rule with version 7 hence why -smp 7 no longer works.. You can ofcourse still fold SMP WU's just not bigadv WU's
