    Hi,

Just upgraded to W10, used DDU to clean the pre installed AMD driver, and installed the latest 15.7.1 driver. After a reboot, I then go to Windows Update only to find that an AMD Driver is waiting to install. Shouldn't W10 recognise I have a newer driver?

    Cheers, Z

The Win 10 driver is newer but you can disable auto driver update for future drivers if u wish...

Right click start button go to control panel, then system, then advanced system settings, then hardware tab, device installation settings then select "no, let me choose what to do" and "never install driver from win update".

The W10 driver is newer than the AMD driver? How did that happen?!

OK will also change the automatic update setting. Presumably this is just for devices, not for Windows updates as well?

That doesn't work in 10, it's an old legacy option

You need to use this tool
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

theres a little program someone made called "DoNotSpy10" has things you can check off "disable" and updates is one you can check off in there. Does it work? I think so.. the long run will tell.

I did the system/Advan..sys/hardware/device along time ago and so far no updates what so ever and I have installed other drivers and NOT the ones from MS.

Just so people are aware, DoNotSpy10 contains OpenCandy adware. Malwarebytes picked it up even after doing a custom install and deselecting it.

    - disable automatic updates in settings - then scrub the old one using DDU,
    - install the later driver in SAFE MODE without an internet connection..
    - when you reboot, Win10 should retain the new driver, and not attempt to update BACK to the former..

    - you can re-enable auto-update at a later stage..
    - if Win10 attempts to install the old driver just opt to defer the update..

No need to go through all of that. I didn't install in safe mode or without an internet connection. Windows Update told me I was already up to date and never tried to re-install the old driver. I was just correcting somemadcaaant's incorrect statement that the Win10 driver is newer & gave evidence to support it by posting the AMD version info vs. the Windows Update version. :)

Ah ok assumed we had a new Win10 update driver higher then 1062 coming down and that's why it initiated an update. Guess Microsoft doesn't care about versioning.
