Hi people i have one question if i should update my system with a new GPU..my specs are i7 3770 k 3,5ghz 16 gig ram DDR 3 Corsair 667Mhz dual ASUS P8Z77-V evga GTX 1060 6 gig PSU Cougar A760 i want to buy a nvidia 1080 card and wonder if its good for this system and if the PSU can make it... greetz
Well I don't know if you should upgrade your GPU but if you feel you need or want to, why not... What do you expect to get out of the 1080 in regards to FPS or resolution? What do you plan on using it for, games, mining, video work etc? Your PSU sure isn't the best out there but it'll be just fine with a GTX 1080, no need to worry 'bout dat
i only use my system for gaming and i wonder if my CPU maybe then the bottleneck or my ram ? im hoping for much better FPS thats the reason for thinkin about a new GPU. does my mainboard support PCI express 3.0 ? at the moment i saw in Bios that PCI is set to x16 and i cant choose other options with the gtx 1060.
You could always overclock the CPU if you want to gain a few fps but it's not really necessary. The 3770K still holds up very well to the more modern 6700K and 7700K chips, just check this video. You'll be just fine with a setup like 3770K + 16GB RAM + GTX 1080 - that's actually really good for gaming.
thx i look that video later one other question with the PCI Express 3.0 what u think about the mainboard ?
It may be a good idea to replace that PSU in the future, like GroinShooter said it's not exactly well built and if you got it at the same time as the CPU it's definitely growing old. It's a good thing that it's pretty big though, you definitely shouldn't have problems with a 1080.
my system runs very well with that PSU at the moment but when i buy a new MB and CPU i have to buy a new PSU for sure
