Underclock 4400Mhz RAM to 3800Mhz. What CL would it be?

    Hello there.

I had this crazy idea: I would like to get some 4400Mhz CL16 RAM and use DRam Calculator to set it to 3800Mhz.

    The 4400Mhz timings are 16-19-19-39.

Anyone could speculate how would the 3800Mhz timings be?
And what if I went to 3600Mhz?

    Should be 14-17-17-34 @ 3800

I rounded the values up. For example, Cas would be 13.87, but it has to be an interger.

I guess you did a proportion.
3800 is about 0.87 x 4400, so the timings would be x0.87 as well.

But timings are not exactly like that.
I was hopping to find someone who already did that or has this ram installed and could use Dram Calcutor to give exact numbers based on it's built.

    Anyway, that's a good price to buy a 3800 cl14 RAM. Or maybe 3600 cl13.

    Thanks a lot.

    Absolute latency = (CAS latency*2000) / Frequency

higher frequency with looser timings is easier to achieve than lower frequency with tighter timings

    Now I see.
I thought timings could drop more.

    Thanks a lot.

    it doesn't work proportianally,never has

4400Mhz CL16 RAM come out to be 7.27ns
That would work out in clock cycles CL14 at 3800MT/s

16-19-19-39 sounds like its a Hynix DJR IC, which limits your TRFC and voltage scaling.
I have played with Hynix CJR RAM and have had limit luck in tightening the latency, despite lowering the frequency from its XMP tested MT

RAM kits clocked at 16-16-16-36, an even set of CL,tRCD, tRP, tRAS, indicates the high probability of the kit being Samsung B-die ICs.
Samsung B-Die at 4000+/MT frequency downclocks nicely with tight timings. At the same time, B-Die has a good probability of kits XMP tested at 3200/3600 MT being overclocking nicely to 3800MT with decent timings as B-Die is known scale extremely well with voltage. Daily drivers of 1.4 - 1.5v is common place, with some reporting 1.6V daily drivers at below 40C temps and stable.
