By leaping towards and thus putting his weight into the action and resulting impact. Yes, it could be considered excessive.
excessive force? no. he used his foot to try to control the ball. never excessive, nor was there excessive force. it was never a sending off. Arbeloa was up quick and not one of the RM players protested. because it was not a sending off. every one saw it. also, I think you'll find he was leaping towards the ball, not the player. his eyes firmly on the ball, he didn't know the player was there.
It's not what he tried to do that he is penalised for, it's what he DID do. That, was a flying kick into another players ribs. The reality is that Nani is lucky he did not seriously injure Arbeloa. If Arbeloa had not been in the air those studs could very well have wound up in his skull. Only the most die-hard ManU fans would be arguing a red card then.
What would utd fans be saying if the roles were reversed? They would be screaming "send the dirty ******* off". Bunch of hypocrites
He is clearly going for the ball, didnt see the player, eyes on the ball. Yes its a yellow any day of the week but never a red! Either way ref ruined a good game. Anyway at least now we can concentrate on the title.
well that looks like an easy decision for the ref. I understand people saying it could be a yellow, but can you really expect to 100% remain on the pitch if you flying kick another player?
It's done now. Why cry over spilled milk? You can argue and complain all you want about the decision - won't change the fact Utd are out!!
I wasnt crying just put my opinion down. If you read my whole post i said, we can move on and concentrate on premier league now. At the end of the day we lost to a good side!
May I suggest we move on from this, let's agree to say what has happened has happened, and nothing we can say or argue will change that. Let's move on from this unfortunate incident. The Champions League continues, there are great matches coming up, let's focus on that from now on.
What do you want? I have money....? :3eyes: Juventus played great today, I can see them as the runner-up in the CL.
