Still I will buy a game, when it's worth the money, perhaps they should lower prices instead of asking 50$ for it.
The high price makes people think twice about buying, and some people (like me) want to test any new game that comes out.

Diablo 3 is a bad example, because the game broke sales records, still doesn't mean this is a good game.
It has huge performance issues, that should not happen on a system like mine, still 4 months later Blizzard has marginally improved the performance, but it is still bad.
They don't care because they made their profit.

I see this as a big middle finger in your face, as for any game that gets released unoptimized.
I didn't build my system to play games that stutter...
And the fact that most games on consoles can't even hold 30 fps, and even have tearing sometimes (WTF?). I don't understand how anyone could be satisfied with game that runs like that, tells you more about the crowd these developers are aiming at.
Companies like this deserve to get pirated and die :bang:

Some developers are getting smart and are going free to play.

    This game costs $15 though.

People are happy with 30fps and tearing because they didn't pay much for the console, they would like more but don't think gaming is worth spending lots of money on as its only a casual hobby.

Companies like this won't die, they don't need PC sales as that is just a little bit of extra cash.

Ubisoft have already said they are moving towards f2p games, as is Valve, EA is making everything have a MP part of some sort, Activision already are there, and the cancelled Stalker game became an MMO.

Piracy and used game sales is on its way to killing off offline, SP gaming, can't blame the companies for it, its all down to the gamers.

It's using Unreal Engine 3, right? Does it have AA and v-sync support, and is the framerate 60 fps or 30 fps?

60FPS solid and nice AA support.
    Runs nicely.
Unfortunately black bars for 16:10 screens ...

Ubisoft's developers don't know how to code for 16:10 screens; all their games are 16:9 alas but then they're a console company so that probably explains it. I still think it's sheer laziness though.

And it's a good job Ubisoft have dropped their awful online DRM... here's my experience this evening (honest!)...

Load up Driver: San Francisco for a quick blast... Login failed. A Ubisoft is not available at the moment. OK, let's load up Assassin's Creed II... haven't played that in a while... Login failed. A Ubisoft is not available at the moment. Right, what about The Settlers 7, terrific game, right? Login failed. A Ubisoft is not available at the moment. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands then? Login failed. A Ubisoft is not available at the moment.

Oh, oh, I'm starting to see a pattern here. The servers are down. Sure, I can play offline but it just highlights how utterly borked up the DRM was in the first place as all those games have single player modes. Having to mess around switching between offline and online modes is just needless hassle IMO. I'm hoping when the servers come back online that all of those games will have the online removed for good such that I can play them without errors regardless of whether the servers are online or not.

The game isn't about the graphics.

What makes it really interesting is the atmosphere and the gameplay,
or at least the situations you get in and how you solve them.
Also, the interactions with various people like survivors or some bad guys is done pretty cool.

The game isn't very polished and win any prize for its looks, but if you let yourself get immersed, it'll be a really gripping survival game.

    Sorry, I didn't see post #77.

As for the game, hmmmmmmmmmmm. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Not sure what to make of it to be honest. Can't decide whether I like it or not yet. It feels a bit Fallout 3-ish in terms of atmosphere but also a bit lightweight and empty with it. It's very linear, there's not a lot to collect en route and combat is very weak. At one point I was asked to press X (on the Xbox 360 controller) to push a guy I had at gunpoint (no bullets in the gun though) but I had to be a precise distance away to do it. Too close and he realises the gun is empty; slightly too far and nothing happens at all.

Visuals are OK at first glance, lead character looks fine if a bit stiff and lifeless but the NPC character models are laughable, like something from a PS2 game circa 2002. Also, there are some dreadful textures in places where you're not supposed to go e.g. at the start, back track to where the lorry is and look at the wheels (there's a screenshot a bit earlier in this thread). There are also lots of invisible walls and barriers blocking paths which you would otherwise be able to reach. The bridge near the beginning for example has lots of them. OK, so the opening section is a tutorial but the level could have been designed to make inappropriate routes more obviously inappropriate if you know what I mean. Played to the point where I followed a little girl and got attacked by three men trying to get at her.

Game seems to have some good ideas like the use of stamina and the limited weapons, meaning that you cannot just rush enemies; instead you have to try and be resourceful.

I'm liking the game. Considering some games of similar length and quality actually release as full priced retail games, I am happy with the small price tag.

Looks good, runs good (albeit I have a top end PC), plays good and is cheap.

Am happy to pay for games that help sway devs to keep releasing on PC.

Bought this earlier, and seems a decent enough game for the small price tag, also noticed i got BGT for free, would of rather it asked me if i wanted to install it or not though.
Game has a kinda old school feel to it, bit more relaxed and not doing the usual trying to hard to impress you from the start thing bit that too many modern games suffer from.

No DRM, no uPlay, and since i was testing i turned my internet off and also noticed that none of my old Ubisoft games like AC2, Splinter Cell Conviction need to be online at all, Brotherhood and Revelations didn't either, but i don't think they ever did, so looks like its already been patched out.
