I have been looking at some pics of both coolers on cards but have been unable to find any pictures of it dissected. Is there any actual difference between the two other then the III has a nicer looking cover. I see they both have 5 heat pipes that appear to be shaped exactly the same atleast at a glance....just curious cause twin frozr ii cards can be had for slightly cheaper then the III cards.

The two performe pretty much the same. The III i think comes with a higher overclock but less overclock room. The temperature should be the same on both. Other than that i think the III has a more black and metal look.

I would pick the II if you care about the money. Here the difference is at least 40€ on various models.

Can´t go wrong with any of those.

    nope. At least 570gtx series.

I can oc beyond 900mhz and ram 2200mhz without a problem, while TFII uses std vrm parts and can die even at 800mhz/ ram 2000mhz..

900mhz and only ~1.056v is amazing imo, plus it has 6pwm (with 10x better quality) vs 4 by std TFII :nerd:

The TFIII has propeller fans, the TFII has regular shaped fan blades.

How much this alters cooling, I don't know. I assume the propeller blades push more air or create more static pressure.

I've not been able to find any pictures of both coolers stripped down, so can't tell if they altered the fin arangement/density.

yea it has better air flow, but it can get a little noisy at 60%, although it never reaches that rpm, temps max 64C in something like OCCT at stock oc 770mhz and In games 53-60C..

On silent mode its silent but can get ~4-5C hotter.

the airflow will be a little higher, but i think static pressure might be a little lower (at the same rpm) from looking at the blade design. im guessing the new ones run at different speeds?

for the most part, twin frozr ii cards for this generation (nvidia 500 and amd 6000) are reference cards, whereas the twin frozr iii cards are custom non-reference cards with a diff pcb and, in most cases, more vrms.

for air cooling, i would imagine they would both perform similarly. but for watercooling or LN2, i would assume some of the extra vrms could come in handy.

TFIII if you want to OC big time because of stronger vrm's.
TFII if a OC doesn't matter.

I got standard vrm's running at 1.063V for 906 core and 2100 memory and running now for 6 months without problems.
Just don't go over 1.113V for to long.
I did benchies at 1.16V so I could do 1000/2000/2100MHz and this for 2 hours and they didn't die.
Gotta say they got full cover waterblocks on them.

Like Hunter says , the vrm's of the TFIII are of better quality and it got more vrm's for the card then the TFII ,resulting in better oc potential and you need less voltage because of the more stable voltage that the high quality vrm's give.

Like he says 1.05V for 900/1800/2200MHz is real low voltage.
Most of the standard GTX570's need 1.08 - 1.1V to get to 900/1800/2200.
But that doesn't mean that every TFIII will be a good OC'er , quality of the gpu has great impact .
