Hu ? My first harddisk had a whopping capacity of 20 Mib - yes you read right megabytes ... this was towards the end of the eighties when i spent all my hard earned cash on insanely expensive hardware for my beloved Amiga
as far i remember the harddisk alone was about $1K and the controller another extra $1k ( or a bit lower i think ). It was a Seagate ... or Conner ... not sure any longer

5 inch floppies! and then the smaller 3.5 inch I can remember sitting there slotting 10+ of these into a machine to load a program, hard drives lol you had it easy!
Weird though as you say initial HDD were 20mb and super expensive I too had one for my Amiga in the late 80s, now here we are 30 years later I have over 10tb on my PC and my phone has 256gb with a 1TB card as well, wonder where we will be in another 30 years

I think WD. Hate to see slowly entering the duopoly.
Before we had some real choices, now not so much.
All my NAS HDDs are Toshiba, fingers crossed, no complaints.
