great to hear the comparisons are done on the 10.3 drivers( beta even ) as they provide quite a performance increase over the 10.2's
I was just taking a nap and dreamed I wrote a response to this thread about what we've been waiting for. So, I had to do it to get it off my mind. How does a guy have dreams about video cards? Heheh....that is kinda cool though, no?
If Hilbert was smart, he should be using the very early 58XX drivers up against the new nivida cards. Wouldn't make sense to use a fully matured ati driver against a new born infant driver waiting to crawl if you know what I mean. you both use first drivers from both sides, then bench it, not months later ati drivers then first start gtx 4XX drivers. Just trying to be fair here.
AMEN(Then it is) to that baby. Ok the benches are cummin'. Hang on tight. This should be very interesting report.
so wats the exact gmt time that it comes out on guru3d ? And here another question i cant get answered anywere the nvidia 240 card is dx10 but if i use it for physicx and then have a 480gtx as the main render card can the 240 run as a physic card in Dx11 games ?
it would run for the worse, 470/480 gtx has better phsyx support due to extra large L1, L2 caches and few other tricks designed especially with this phsyx to gpu switching in mind,.. making smooth transitions between phsyx (or opencl physics based engine) <=> gpu rendering without fps loss in the end.
I currently have a 260 set up for independent phsyx and a 295 as my main. You are trying to tell me when I switch to 2x 480 in SLI I will get better phsyx performance than if I left my 260 as independent phsyx? Some how I do not think this is the case? Please correct me if I am wrong. In my current set up having a independent phsyx card makes a massive difference in benchmarks and performance(the Cryostasis TechDemo can demonstrate this easily).
I think what he means is to compare both GPU's with their release drivers so its fair because nvidia didnt have time to tweak their drivers (unless you count the delays =p). tbh i don't really care if its their release drivers/ the 10.3 i just want to see the gtx 480. you can go back to the old 5xxx articles if you want to see the game performance with release drivers.
Its still pointless, why should Ati's product be tested using there old drivers, Nvidia should have got there **** together sooner. Ati should not be penalised for getting there product out 1st. And any1 who owns, or planning to buy or have bought a new 5K seris isn't going to using the older less mature drivers either are they.
yes it is the case, check some darkvoid physx benchmarks with 470gtx @ extreme physx and you will see, maybe those were fake but it ran allot better compared with gpu+physx gpu combo.. and in nv whitepaper there is a whole page about this better physx optimization and comparison with old 285gtx.. and darkvoid's phsyx is more stressful than cryostasis or batman.:nerd:
Hmmm very interesting. Well sir I think you have just convinced me to retire my 260 as well and get a 470 just for physx. I would think this would be the fastest combination for sure if its anything like the current state regarding setting one card as independent phsyx. Thanks for the intel btw I love Dark Void its one of my favs.
