I have to agree with you, even if it's single GPU card, it does require more power and generates more heat than dual GPU solution and doesn't even win it. I don't really care if it's dual GPU or single GPU, the performance / heat / power consumption vs price is most important. :nerd:

Ha ha, that's game over for nVidia. you can't charge 50% more for a card that offers only slightly better performance.

If ATI releases a 5890 that cranks up the performance of the 5870 by 10-20% they will totally destroy nVidia in all segments

The article stopped loading altogether now for me; can't get any pages to display, and Firefox seems to just give up after about 3 secs. Oh well from what I read, the performance is nothing to write home about, especially at those prices / heat levels / power consumption levels. :(

    Max playable settings.

So they could play higher settings with one card.

Ok, so does that not make it a little unfair to compare the two then? surely you need to run the same settings for it to be a fair test?

    Nice performance.

480 is far to expensive atm and seriously hot compared to its competition.

we must also remember all the shaninigans from nvidia with fake pics etc....

and they have the bloody cheek to charge what they are charging!

charlie demerjian is looking right! so where are all those people who slagged him off bigtime?

sorry it is fail nvidia. late/hot/expensive.

i would have been easy going if they hadnt taken the piss with the pricing but they are.

As far as I can see (about 5 test result pages) the GTX470 is the sweet spot. Performance seems to be slightly better than the 5870 and it is the same price (in Australia). 480 is just way to expensive.
Looks like im no longer saving for a 5850.
