Optimising TressFX isn't nerfing it, its broken and looks awful right now.

I'm not one for disabling features as i hardly ever do it, but this was the first time in years i've turned a setting off.

Turning off tessellation is essential if you're using the v314.xx drivers and TressFX causes a huge performance hit on single NVIDIA GPUs and is glitchy to boot with SLI so there's no point using that either until it is fixed (unless you enjoy bizarre hair physics and god-awful hair shadows?). That seems to make the game much more stable for most people; it just seems to be me that is having a far worse experience than everyone else as far as stability is concerned!

If you don't have the game already then it might be best to wait until new drivers are out and the game has been patched before buying it... unless you don't mind missing out on exclusive PC enhancements. Also, the game is missing various effects for everyone, including AMD card owners, unless you run the game in windowed mode (how they missed that one is anyone's guess!).

i cant find the game as ps3 version on local stores. and online shopping is MEH to me. wait for order for days.

i wanted STEAM but it looks like waiting may be virtue. or a PSN edition. thanx for reply.

@ Mr.Bigtime - The PS3 version is impressive but the framerate is not and can get a bit annoying, especially during some of the more packed combat sequences. It feels like it running at under 20 fps at times. The game is clearly a bit too ambitious for the seven year old console hardware but it is fun and mostly playable. You have a decent PC though that can run the game at 60 fps on Ultra 1920x1080 (without TressFX) so I would personally buy it for that (once the issues are fixed) rather than the PS3 but that's up to you.

In my experience i didn't have problems with the game after ~4 hours of playing ,only the occasional slowdowns when i used TerssFX.Most problems come from users with the Kepler architecture especially with the tesselation.I run the game fullscreen and i checked for missing effects by runing in window but there weren't any.The game needs a patch for sure and an updated driver from Nvidia. The other thing i noticed is that when i run a high resolution (1440p , 1800p) when the ingame hud appears (ammo, supplies, etc) there is a massive slowdown .

ps. i am using nvidia 314.07

    Haha, yeah I meant DOF.

Turn it off people. It looks terrible. For example, run that benchmark with DOF on and off. Watch the distance get sharp and colorful when the overdone effect is turned off. CD is one of those developers who don't know the meaning of "subtlety" when it comes to using such effects.

    Basically..

DOF = OFF (ugly, blurry, overdone, 10 FPS gain on OFF)
Level of Detail (aka, draw distance) = High or Normal (trust me, with overdone weather flashes every 2 second, you will hardly notice low draw distance, also, it kills all lag in "larger areas").
Vsync = Off (set to Adaptive in CP)

All this until they patch and new driver comes out which will PROBABLY fix the performance issues on nVidia cards. To be honest, there is no replay value, and I am pretty sure I will end up finishing game before any update comes out. Doubt it I will replay this anyway. This trigger-fest is good for one run only.

No for your gpu, i mean 7900 series. They have enough tflops, Titan has around the same as 7970.

It's just weirdly worded, saying that last years gpus are not enough. Meh, I know what they mean, but it's badly worded. Off to play for an hour now, to finish it off :) the final boss is a qte fest, right?

So in other games its fine to use fullscreen in game with out messing anything right ?

And the extra effects thing is a bug in this Tomb Raider right ? So other games do not have these issue ?
