Tokyo gets crazy with their manga/anime ban.

Good, maybe now there will be some real anime produced without undertones of pedophilia or incest like 99.999999999% of anime.

I watched barely any anime because of the creepy stuff that is injected into it.

Just watched GitS yesterday, great anime, no C.P the way all media should be.

Just take a look at japanese culture, there is no lines between what is acceptable and not because anime subculture is perverted and people consider porn cartoons with children in them to be acceptable :S

Good on the old man, I'm sure in his day people respected women instead of imagining them in tentacle rape scenarios...

 

Personally, if you're an adult and into this stuff, I think there's something wrong with you. Just my opinion.

Anyway... If it's got adults in sexual scenarios, no reason it shouldn't be rated for a more mature audience. If it's got children in sexual scenarios, it's got no reason to even exist.

Even if all this adult-oriented anime law stuff goes through, I don't see it doing much. Not in the country who makes porn of men running up to random women and ejaculating on them in public. Certain things are just part of that country.

 

Most of those so called "porn scenes" involve some males/boys getting a nose bleed after seeing a woman/girl naked (which you don't see 99,99999% of the time). Love Hina is a perfect example of that (and a boring show tbh, same crap all over again).

I'm not interested in seeing anime chicks having sex or whatever, but i have always seen quality anime without excessive use of sexual behavior.

Well, only if you watch some manga/anime made by Go Nagai (Violence Jack, DevilMan). But those also only involve clearly adults, the horror manga/anime by him.

 

Some of the characters are half naked kids, it's wrong and hopefully this law stops that.

 

funny thing is, if you watch a lot of their local dramas, they don't censor the boobs out at all.

Much of the anime that is aimed toward the older audience (not specifically hentai) plays at night over there similar to what we have called Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. I wonder what will take its place.

Anime is already heavily censored on their TV. The most common techniques are the white fog, black gradients, or using other objects slapped over the picture. When the anime is released on Blu Ray it is in its original unrated format like the Blu Rays here in the US.

If nobody is hurt in the process, and it shows no signs of doing anything in the future, should something be removed?

 

I would guess that if ecchi anime gets completly taken off the air and goes directly to blu ray there are loss of sales because the audience is smaller because by having a show on TV, you get the advertisements and such.

It seems out of all the crazy stuff that comes out of Japan, they are ashamed that they have otaku culture and want to rid of it, which I think is a dumb move because thats a good chunk of their industry. There is good money to be made by having ecchi, adult, or moe titles. It gains the most fans and more fans equals more money for the company, but we'll see what happens next year when their biggest manga conventions are half empty. Sucks because I was planning on going to Comiket next year.

I agree though that the harem titles (one male lead character, many females) do get kinda repetitive though. Having less of those would be great, but those are still super popular.

You seem to assume that Japan's economy runs on this stuff, its just media. I am sure they will find another alternative to the anime/manga stuff which is more tasteful for kids while at the same time catering for the more adult oriented cartoon stuff with other distribution methods.

You are giving the issue massive alarm as though Mitsubishi or Toyota decided to shut down operations in Japan, now that would be disastrous.

 

Well, according to the industry reports, anime accounts for 60% of the animation in the world, then yeah, it could effect quite abit.

HOTD has lots of erotic tinted scenes and bouncing boobs (there are more bouncing boobs in HOTD than bouncing balls in a basketball game) for a zombie apocalypse based story. Al tho some of them were extremely funny, like e08;14:30

But this is bad news if they also ban anime shows and movies with violent and crime.

 

Like Elfen Lied, a great story about the corruptness of human nature, but features gore, and nudity, so I am sure with **** like this passing, classics like it will disappear.

I have no interest in this stuff, but I'd rather they look at cartoon under-age girls instead of real ones.

 

I could see why this would be taken off the air, it could really mess with younger peoples.

Although I don't see a need to ban DVD/Blu-Ray, especially if ID is needed to purchase.

 

You can't be serious. I bought that series based on reviews and clips from the internet and the story/violent aspect was good. But there were random panty shots and the girl pissed herself and all sorts of other perverted queer $#!+.

I watched it for the story and psychology, not for anime kiddie porn.

I never finished the series because it went down that path and i was like 'where the hell did that come from'.

Ghost in the Shell, Ergo Proxy, those animes have good stories and art style and psychology/philosophy aspects without the pointless incest fetish of so many other anime.
