Maybe when you get your 8800GTS and find out that half of your games don't run in XP you might understand why some of us are getting antsy about not having a decent driver.

I don't care that Vista drivers won't be out until January sometime. Lets face it, if Vista and DX10 were the only reasons to get an 8800, I would have waited another 6-12 months. The point many folks are making is that we need something that works on XP with the games we have now. Why is NVIDIA repeatedly screwing the people who buy their top end cards? (Think 7900 memory fiasco, 8800 resistor screw up, and now crappy drivers).

    lol...half....ok...

The ones that dont play...i never play any ways...so it doesnt effect me.
The 8800 screwup...Dude that wasnt nvidia..

Splinter cell doesnt work...Call of Juraz....Im pretty sure You can live without those two games. Like i said before, Complaining on a 3rd party forum will not make anything happen. And Reading Info From the Inq Wont Solve your Questions.

Goto the NVIDIA forum and post your crys and woes there. They might even Post back.

Creating pointless "Wers my Driver" threads arnt gona Help.

    here we go
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_97.44.html

The following are changes made and issues resolved in driver version 97.44:
    • Changing the default NVIDIA Control Panel Antialiasing mode to
Override mode will result in corruption in some applications.
    • Battlefield 2: Intermittent random z fighting problems on the terrain.
    • Adjusting the Noise Reduction causes corruption flashes when
    launching a DVD.
    • Rapidly switching HDTV Component format between modes may
cause the display to go blank.
    • Driver stops responding in SLI mode if the system boots up with no
    displays attached.
    • Civilization 4: White blocks of corruption appear in the clouds when
    zooming out.
    • Everquest 2, SLI: Flickering water textures/reflections occur when SLI
    is enabled.
    • Pacific Fighters, SLI: With SLI mode enabled, there is a large
    performance drop–from 100-200+ fps–in DirectX mode when
accessing the game control panel with enhanced antialiasing enabled.
    • NVIDIA SLI does not activate for any application if Steam.exe is
running and the application’s resolution does not match the desktop
    resolution.
    • Battlefield: Objects and terrain are very dark. As you move closer, a
block of area brightens in steps as you move around the map.
    • Tomb Raider: Legend, SLI: No shadows appear when Next
    Generation Content is enabled.
    • Splinter Cell: Double Agent Single Player has geometry corruption.
    • Company of Heroes: There are flickering ground textures.

I wish that Nvidia would put out some solid drivers for the 8800 series for ANY operating system at this point.

The ones that come with the card are 'ok' but I'd like to see some of the CPU load come off with some newer drivers. Also fix the control panel, dual monitor issues, resolution issues, game patching and... too much other stuff.
