One of the local radio stations in my area had mentioned it, and posted their opinion on it with the top five Metal Frontmen. http://q103albany.com/top-five-heavy-metal-frontmen-bjs-picks/ . I was big into metal back in the day, and after seeing this, I listened to couple CD's from back in the day. What memories, and the wild times of the old school metal concerts!
Bump...looking for some new metal to listen to. I like mostly deathcore, metalcore, death metal, hardcore, djent and powermetal, but open to all metal. Doesn't even have to be in English, so continue spamming this thread please ^___^ Some new bands for me since I made this thread. 刑の字 feat Luka - A REMINISCENCE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wd12kOH45bI Within The Ruins - Faith or Famine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U87Zo7dFymo Woe Is Me - Fame > Demise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgoqZo0crfs I Am Abomination - Since 1776 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVycLR4VKDk Eluveitie - Havoc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XM1v-00C6AM (they should make an RPG soundtrack!) The Browning - Bloodlust http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kP1PgHAe8Is
I feel like heavy metal is a dying genre Best thing I've heard on a radio station recently would be: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0
I'm primarily a melodeath fan, so all my suggestions will center around that genre, if you can stomach it. A few to try, in no particular order: Heaven Shall Burn - solid metalcore with melodeath influences http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3kqUiwT7xQ Callenish Circle - melodeath http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhCF9fdIXCU Disarmonia Mundi - a Soilwork clone, basically (same vocalist, if I remember), your The Browning video kinda reminded me of them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-KfHM1J0K8 Incarnia - quite good keyboard-centric melodeath, they released one kickass album then split up. A crying shame, if you ask me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcNOIheCWMI Be'Lakor - melodeath, one of my favorites. Their "Stone's Reach" album was a damn masterpiece http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBdRra2tYp8 If you'd like any more, I've got plenty.
I wouldn't say Disarmonia Mundi is a Soilwork clone. Bjorn does/did do both vocals for both bands, but it was supposed to be a guest part and on their newest album he's only on like 4 songs. That being said - both Soilwork and DM are excellent. For more melodeath I would also suggest Before the Dawn, Insomnium and Omnium Gathering. All three are finish and sound somewhat similar but all three are awesome. Anyway here is some stuff I've been listening too lately: The Interbeing - Rhesus Artifical http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eg_pQop_zZs Mastodon - Black Tongue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwgqenxNUfs Tyrant of Death - Control Machine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k83ozdNmbis Mechina - Andromeda http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXxxLp-Ufe8
I'm probably the only one that doesn't like Soilwork. It has been recommended to me a few times, a buddy even lent me a CD, and I still don't like them. Pyro - I'm diggin Heaven Shall Burn Denail - I'm really liking Tyrant of Death and Mechina Throwing out random recent bands: Bleeding Skies - Pt.II Yuno http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iu8C_IQA5Sw Architects - These Colours Don't Run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHHJF2cUwyY The Korea - Waterline http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoH2ZTgJYd8 (Russian) Outrun the Sunlight - Quark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUk5HiWg9pE
Soilwork is definitely on the lighter side of things, especially with their later albums. I guess I've kind of always listened to them since Predators Portrait and followed their musical change over the years. I love them, probably one of my fav bands, mostly because they play what the music they want and are constantly innovating their sound. Plus Dirk Verbeuren is a ****ing god on drums and I'll literally listen to anything he's in. Soilwork/Devin Townsend/Gojira/Mastodon/Tool are probably my fav metal bands.
Introduced to a new band today. It's powermetal/melodic death metal. Nice combo. Wrath and Rapture - The Dirge Of Fallen Warriors http://youtu.be/57Yfj7fUU0U
