Asus 5000 series Graphic Card DirectCompute Problems If you have problems with DirectCompute, it may be that you have Asus SmartDoctor Ver.5.48 and Asus GamerOSD 3.06.1023 running in the background. Uninstall them and download the latest versions from the Asus website, then reinstall your ATI drivers, and with a bit of luck you should be good to go. I found out the hard way from a system reinstall and checking each program for a conflict before and after to see where the problem was. I hope this could help. Joe
Thanks for the tip. I've been having DX11 problems since getting my 5770 and if this sorts it out I'll be very pleased. I tried the new versions of OSD & SmartDoctor but Windows7 didn't like an unsigned driver one of them apps was trying to install. Afterwards my PC became very unstable, crashing with thin vertical lines on the screen and then freezing during boot-up. After several attempts I eventually managed to rescue it by booting from my Win7 DVD and performing a system restore. When the Catalyst 10.1 drivers are released next week I'll get rid of Smartdoctor and OSD altogether (I'll switch to MSI's Afterburner software) before installing them and I'll see if that sort my DX11 problems. I'll let you know how I get on. EDIT: Curiosity got the better of me and I tried it, using the 9.12's. It works! Even after reboot, I get DX11 effects in the Heaven benchmark since uninstalling the Asus Gamer OSD and Smartdoctor software and re-installing my graphics driver. For discovering this and getting the info out into the public domain I rekon Asus owe you a big fat 5970-flavoured polygon cruncher. What the hell are their software people playing at?
