Here's a good reason for PC gaming, Titanfall on Xbox One can't run in 1080p. According to Gamespot, Titanfall beta runs natively at 792p on Xbox One: The Xbox One version of Titanfall, at least i...

Seems like most of the major releases are struggling to hit 1080p on the Xbox One so it comes as no surprise to me that Titanfall doesn't. What is surprising though is how graphically unimpressive the game looks and I really don't understand what all the hype is for because it looks like Call of Duty with mechs and parkour added. The gameplay I've seen with the 6 versus 6 maps has the appearance of small skirmishes rather than the large scale battles a la Battlefield 4 that I'd expect to see on more powerful hardware.

Quite honestly, I've been underwhelmed but I have signed up for the PC beta so I can at least say I tried the game. I have no intention of buying it though.

P.S. Microsoft really need to ditch that horrid sharpening filter that they use for upscaling sub-1080p games to 1080p. It looked awful in Dead Rising 3 and it looks equally terrible in Titanfall on the XBO.

    Why am I not surprised?

Isn't that what having a pc is all about? Having the ability to run ANY game at ANY resolution as long as hardware can support it.

    No Xbone for me...

Just watched the video but I must have missed the bits that require a new games console. Or are they going to add high quality textures and large maps as paid DLC?

not that much of a surprise, it is being developed by IW guys in the end that the game does not look that impressive. It's not like any COD after MW1 have done anything amazing graphics wise :D

...and people still buy the Xbox One instead of the better and cheaper PS4. Sometimes people stupidity amazes me...*cough*..Apple..*cough*....and then we ask when will the "future" technology be available at reasonable price at this rate of stupidity.

Well I will take X1 over PS4 cause of the games not cause resolution or whatnot, I got pc for those resolution things :D

PS4 will be interesting if it ever gets something I want really much.

I think I'll get Titanfall anyway, but for PC :)

I bought my gaming rig around June 2009, and made it next-gen by replacing GTX 260 SLI with a single GTX 680 when they got released :D

6vs6 battles? Wow, soon 1vs1 skirmishes will come back like in old good q3 times! Oh, q3 had unlimited(?!) number of players in match and 1vs1 was just an option, in new games soon it will be the only way to play multiplayer :D Of course in astonishing 576p :D

And i've reminded to myself one more interesting thing. Now is all this push and hype on multi-screen gaming. Do you remember the news about guy who played q3 on linux on 24 screens? That was long time ago before n****ia surround and amd eyefinity. Here it is:

Well glory be, 792p is around the number of pixels I was pushing on a Radeon 7000 Pro back in 2000, and that was a bottom of the barrel graphics card. Welcome to 15 years ago, Xbone.

    No.

I've said this before: there are two factors which'll stop that; bandwidth and display technology.

Gaming is extremely minor compared to the global demand for television programes and general home cinema @ X resolution.

The day television broadcast (whether by digital transmission or iNet) is capable of having an entire workflow from initial production onwards @ 4K (or higher) and the movie industry follows (which they will want to do asap because they have 100 years of back catalogue to reissue) AND TV's are mass market 4K ($300) then you got something which'll trickle down to gamers.

That's a long long long long time in the future and 1080P has finally gotten to gamers, albeit not on the xboner...but PC gaming has had it for many years now.

In addition...why the insistence of 4K for gaming? 1080P works well and scales to 144Hz pretty nicely, for the right price...no need to go higher IMHO.

Titanfall...too early to call it Titanfail? Calling it if no one else has...

I thought they said that the last gen consoles would be able to do 1080p, and now even the new so called next gen console can't even do 1080p? What a joke.

Dear winner of the most erotic competition, you will be making a lot of these threads for the Xbox as that thing is relatively underpowered :p
