http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21035741-2,00.html this happened in Esperance, 725km southeast of Perth, Australia no cause has been found yet...quoting a resident "It went to the point where we had nothing, not a bird," "It was like a moonscape, just horrible. But the frightening thing for us, we didn't find any more birds after that. We literally didn't have any birds left to die." pretty scary stuff
Didn't the same thing happen recently in Texas. It was either Austin or San Antonio. Weird but not unheard of.
It happened in Austin TX on 8 Jan 07. 60-70 birds, many different species just died that morning in the downtown area. They haven't figured out yet what killed them. They suspect a poison of some type, because officials said the autopsies haven't identified bird flu or west nile virus as a cause of death. Very weird.
That reminds me of the movie core where the earth's electromagnetic field was altering and it effected birds brains, pacemakers and other stuff.
holy crap i was thinking the same thing before i read all your replies. Really wierd. Sounds like the core but who knows.
The core was a little different though. The birds sense of direction was thrown off by the change in the earths magnetic field, and the birds just flew into things. But The Core is an abomination of a movie, as it stands today the magnetic north pole is constantly moving ( and it has always done, and it moves very very very very slowly ).
yeah and also there is this laser... that cuts through any material except lead... very real indeed...
Hmmm...birds falling dead all over an area. Have the homeless been trying to beat everyone up with lead pipes, 2x4s with nails, and locker doors? Pick up five of the birds, see if anything happens. Of course it's real. They obviously used Superman's eyes for the laser. DUH!!!
There was a huge storm through that area a week or so ago, which probably wiped out their food source and their habitat. It isnt some wierd cataclysmic event or anything, just nature at work. BTW, if you're using The Core as a scientific base for explaining a real world event, you've got some serious issues.
