I wonder when there will be a nude patch for this, fan service :D
But honestly, it looks cool to have something like this happening, although it's only for show.

Not sure it’s a secret anymore. Not that there is anything wrong with being an otaku.

I don't really see this much as a mod, there's a case out there that has a screen projector in the glass that acts as a normal display.

The reason transparent displays are not yet a thing is because there is no technology in existence that controls the level of translucency while also emitting light.

LCD's (of all kinds) only control the level of light that goes through, but do not emit any light by themselves (Only controls Alpha, with color filters applied)
(o)LED on the other hand emits light but the panel itself is fully opaque (Only controls light intensity, on each of the 3 colors)

If someone invents a kind of cell that can emit light while at the same time it can control it's own translucency, we can have RGBA screens that look like those in the movies and TV.
    Will be awesome !

... perhaps there's a prototype already in a Samsung lab somewhere

Just to be more precise this is less 'anime' and should be considered Vocaloid. In this case the Vocaloid character is Miku Hatsune. There's a hold bunch of others. These songs and music are done digitally - no real person is actually singing - and people (mostly in asia but there have been US concerts too, not sure about Europe) where people go to watch.

Crazy i know. Though there are some good vocaloid songs out there.

For some reason, this pisses me off, and I can't even tell why that is.

More or less what the Gorillaz is about, no real musicians but only those toons, and they had concerts too (like even at the EMAs iirc).

Why would anyone pay to watch a digital character with digital music.
Go home and listen to it on your computer..

    I don't see the appeal.
Probably a bunch of people masturbating furiously to that crap lol

But there is a difference: live musicians are there on the stage and only the singer is virtual. Gorillaz just show full scale cartoons with sound.

I saw interview with Japanese otaku and was startled to discover that they mostly hide their hobby from their colleagues due to not good reputation of otaku in society.

You two do realize that Gorillaz is headed by the original dude from Blur and som chick (not sure who she is) and they bring in collaborators. While the “band” is animated the talent is real.

Sure the talent is real, somebody has to make the music, it's not (yet) AI created, let's wait on google for that one. But the "band members" you see performing on concerts are more or less like those digital idols, in the regard to concerts, that's what I meant.
