Hi all, thinking of getting a 6600GT,anyone got any ideas on who is making the fastest at the moment and is it better to get 256MB ram as opposed to 128M?.Have had mainly leadtek cards but i find they are usually slower than other brands.comments appreciated.Thx.

The fastest is no concern, they all o/c pretty well (I've got a 565/1.15 out of the box). And 256 MB is overkill for this card IMHO.

Oh, you might want to get one that has 1000MHz stock, not 900MHz.

slow? or just not oc'ed like bfg?

I suggest getting a 6800 NU. 4 more pipelines and if your lucky, unleash all 16 pipelines.

the price is about the same if you look around, $200+tax

Found an online shop that sells XFX 6600GT 500/1000 for $333AUS,might have a gander.have not overclocked card as i deemm myself not competent to do so :p and dont have the time (daughter is walking now spend my time keeping an eye on her:cool: ).just like to put the card in there and work.Tried it once and things got a little weird on me.must say the XFX looks impressive have they got a good name ie have they been around for a while??

i know you dont like OCing and such, but if you do want to risk it a bit, try a 6800le, on stock it is a bit inferior to a 6600GT, but once you unlock it to a non ultra (mine doesnt do GT, one quad is damaged) it surpasses the 6600GT in every way

that said, for everyone not willing to OC or unlock, the 6600GT is an excellent card, but imho it is a bit short on memory bandwith, so getting a xfx with 100 mhz more on the ram would be a good idea

XFX GeForce 6600GT .. very good card .. stock at 500/1000 ... very good oc'er ... will perform very well when coupled with a good processor/mobo/ram ...
