Necro! But we're in 2021 and developers still implement unskippable intro logos. Just why?
The same goes for credits.
If someone is actually going to watch them, they're going to watch them.
If they aren't and you don't allow a skip... I'll just alt-f4.
Advertisements placed into a video game via an update for the sole purpose of advertising a newer video game.
NPC AI that have the level of programing of video games from over 20 years ago in current day video games....
Competitive online shooters!
Sorry, I get that these are popular but I lose the will to live playing these. Running around the same limited bunch of maps shooting the same people over and over and over again is just not fun for me. I find them extremely boring to the point where I no longer buy games like Call of Duty, which I only got for the single player campaigns anyway. They all feel the same to me with no variation or excitement. The kiddies love 'em though which is why games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, PUBG and Fortnite are so popular.
Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy first-person shooters but prefer them when they are attached to a decent storyline (which Call of Duty has NEVER had in my view) and a varied, interesting world to explore. This is why I prefer to play games like Deus Ex, BioShock, Cyberpunk 2077 and even Far Cry than another dull military shooter. Honestly, I feel the life slipping out of me just thinking about those! Best stop now!
Well at least for the end credits you can do that but that's not an option for the intro logos. To be honest, with many games there are workarounds like renaming/removing the files or hexediting the executable but for some there is none.
Quick time events, this really takes me off the game. It ruins immersion for me, to have to wait for some random button prompt, so that the game can continue to be played.
Unskipable cinematics, especially on games that have bad stories and bad characters.
RPG Elements in every game.
1. When i'm supposed to stop within a small marker with a vehicle, stop & exit the car only to find out i missed the trigger by half a meter. SO ANNOYING!
2. When a mission fails because i somehow didn't do exactly what the mission designer wanted me to do. +2 Annoyance when the game shows me a countdown that i only notice in the last 3 seconds because there's too much going on around me. AAARRRRGGHHHH !!!!
So many good posts, I don't want to repeat some stuff that is already here so...
I hate cheap deaths in story-driven games. Such deaths destroy atmosphere that is really hard to build up. An with relation to this I also hate story-driven games with no difficulty settings. It instantly shows that game developers don't care about player experience.
Unskippable cutscenes.....especially before a boss that has multiple transformations.
Addiction to, and amount of time spent there.
even Advanced Warfare ?
That's basically just bad checkpoints.... bad checkpoints in games are the worst.
long intros - hate tem passionately.
especially in the recent ubisoft games.
Sometimes its not all about rich worlds to explore and epic story to fallow but blasting each other showing your skills and moves online with your friends.
That can be fun.
division 1 and 2 were great tho
Excessive junk loot. I want to play the game, not stop every 10 secs to see whats in a container. Worse is when you go out of your way to reach an empty container.
Poorly managed menus for large inventories the game saddles you with.
Repetitious routines that may seem like fun initially, but doing them again and again you begin to lose patience.
Here's a few that come to mind
Having to play through a first mission before I can even get to a menu to change settings
No manual save game function
Lack of ultrawide resolution support
FPS locked (30FPS WTF?)
Game starts on wrong screen
No native HDR support
Annoying voice actors that explain every option ("this is wild ride where you'll take on the most insane race drivers in the world blah blah blah")
Bad Console Ports
Remakes that are worst than the originals (cough, cough Crysis)
Pointless fetch quests
having to download 100gb's worth of patches to make it work.
No offline mode
