It was always more of a matter when than if. A remake is a very safe bet, since they can reuse known and loved Geralt. Especially for console folks who never had a chance to play the game (and the failed port nearly tanked CDP altogether and took with itself to the grave 2 or so expansions) W4 is a gamble since they don't want to reuse Geralt and it'll likely have character creation, which in turn means having female witchers (excuse me - body type 2 witchers) which by itself is going to make a lot of lore people unhappy. So this is an approach with no downsides really. I'm only surprised that it's outsourced. I wouldn't also be surprised if dice poker is replaced with Gwent and casual sex along with "collectible cards" are taken out entirely.
It's an outsourced project done by Fools Theory with some creative control from CDP side, i highly doubt it detracts a lot from their workforce and schedule. If anything i'd assume the W3 RTX remaster that is long overdue takes more since it's been taken away from Saber Interactive.
yep and here i am STILL have not finished witcher 2 and still have not even bother to install witcher 3 but i have on pc and ps4 so get all upgrades for free...Maybe I should actual Finish 2 and then finish 3 after I finish play sekiro and see all the endings and trophies. Before i get back to skyrim again.. not sure it was good idea to them to announced 3 game and how many dlc extras? consider the mess that was cyberpunk2077 on luanch? and that was just one game. less the learned there lesson and learn to tell the higher up and stock holder stfu and wait till the games are ready to actual be released which mean when the developers say it ready, which probably unlikely and now witcher remake. i wonder if there gona gut gameplay and make more like witcher 2 and 3 i actual like witcher gameplay more, but that gameplay built around kb and mouse and witcher 2 and 3 where built around gamepad gameplay
Great news, it'll be neat to replay the game in a stable engine. Though I'm really curious if the remake will still be able to export its saves to Witcher 2.
I wonder what happened to the Witcher 3 enhancement? Maybe that was the Witcher 1 redo the whole time?
No, it is still planned. Couple months after the war broke out they took the project off Saber Interactive since it had offices in Belarus and Russia IIRC and now are doing it in house. Last time i heard it's planned to do more than bare minimum but obviously not overhaul visually the entire game. There's more than one RT effect and couple of mods bought off modders and incorporated into the package. Quite sure the prologue cutscene and one prior to skellige fight were converted back from FMVs to in-engine through one of mods and couple of other things.
The first Witcher sucks. Maybe if they remake it so we can go look at all that cool scenery behind all the invisible walls that be something.
