Typically I would say the same thing, however I play loads of games including Batman:AK with not even close to the amount of crashes that I have been getting with TW3 lately. In fact BatmanAK runs fairly well on my system compared to most of what I've seen. I consider myself somewhat lucky with the game so far (although it's still a complete pos). I've even lowered all my OCs (CPU/GPU), which I will admit helped a little, however I still crash anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour and at random places.

I can't help but think it's something else, and not just my system being unstable.

EDIT: to be clear, I don't crash in any other game right now except for BatmanAK, but not frequently. GTA5, Dead Space 3, BF4, etc.. no crashes at all.

My game crashes once every other day or so, and I'm putting heavy hours in right now. And I think it's because of something they changed.

Up till a week or so ago, EVERY crash (which was much more often) plus most normal shutdowns of the game resulted in the the game switching itself from Fullscreen to borderless mode. It hasn't done it since then, even on the random crash.

Damn hairworks are indeed more..real and better, though not so much difference afterall on wolves and some other creatures. Surely doesn't worth the trade on performance (though with G-sync it's really hard to fell any difference,if it's stays above 40-45)

If you tweak your shadow and foliage distance settings, you can easily get that back up to 60fps with Hairworks on.

Hairworks is no big deal. In fact it's poorly optimised.

hey guys, what's a good source for mods for W3?

Steam community hub? or an actual website?
    Thanks.

You won't get much look with hexus. However, Nexus has over 150 'mods' on there now. That does include more Reshade profiles than you can shake a stick at though.

Thanks for the tip, already knew about these two options but nuh,for me it's disgusting to see foliage pop-ups (something that you don't see if set to max). Shadows are on high, though can't see any visual difference med vs high..and the perf difference is tiny.

Agreed on both (I eventually set foliage to max). The thing that drives me nuts is the NPC pop-ups, especially when I ride into a town or walking anywhere in Novigrad. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a fix for that unless they do it in a patch.

Surely has to do something with the game engine's internal memory manager though it does seems a bit unstable to tweak default values for these settings...

Game is definitely still needing some work.. You still have that brief pausing every time you're on Roach and in a canter.

Also, I will get random frame drops for really no reason at times. Save the game and start it up again, boom pinned at 60.. leave it for a minute, down to 44..

Also, the pop in is really bad.. I notice it pretty much constantly. I haven't been crashing all that much, but I did last night out of the blue.. screen just went light grey and crash to desktop after a good hour of playing without issue.

I've heard a lot of people talking about this, but I have never noticed it on my machine. And believe me, I really looked and I'm quite sensitive to stutter.

The only time I ever noticed stutter in this game was when I had it installed on Windows 10 preview. On Windows 8.1 though, I have zero stutter..

    Never had this problem either..

I think NPC pop in can be pretty glaring at times, but overall, Witcher 3 has some impressive draw distances given how much it's rendering..

Are those all with hairworks on? I think the top pic looks the best. I tried hairworks and I like the look better without them.

I've read many people who suffer from this problem actually..

Oh for sure, no question there.
In previous patches (I think 1.05 was okay) I noticed one maybe every 6-10 minutes. Now I notice it in practically every scene, even cutscenes.. facial hair and other details will render after the camera is already on the character for example. That happens a lot, but I'm hopeful with the size and amount of changes in 1.07 it will get resolved.

The first one is OFF, TBH it's the best hair I've seen in game(without hairworks I mean),

if you play the game fo some time with hairworks ON and then go back to OFF you will feel differentely. But yes,as I've said it's pretty enjoyable with or without this feature.

    @ Scooby

if you can find another 8GB of RAM for at least testing I think that many of your issues will be gone.

    This.

Honestly, 8GB just doesn't cut it anymore for the latest 64 bit games. I've seen my machine use 7.1GB of total system RAM after long periods of playing the Witcher 3.. Having 8GB means the game will access the pagefile periodically which will cause stuttering.

With 16GB, the game should never use the pagefile at all. I have my pagefile disabled and the game is pretty much stutter free because I never even come close to hitting my RAM ceiling.

As for Hairworks, I agree that Geralt's hairworks looks worse with it enabled compared to with it turned off.. But hairworks for monsters, animals etcetera look much better with it turned on..
