So... if this works, and to me x4 doesn't look that worse compared to x16 (at least on his head), and this workaround does indeed function, make it look good, and run smoothly with hairworks enabled...

    are AMD users happy then?

Also, I'd be curious if this method could be used on other games that possibly 'cripple' AMD performance.

In the recent years , I have noticed that when Nvidia introduces a new GPU family , the old one starts to have problem with drives. This is making me consider the next GPU I buy.

but reducing the tesselation factor will effect the water tesselation aswell?

For be honest, i can imagine many Nvidia users will be happy too to use 16x or 32x tesselation on hairs / furs and gain 10% fps, instead of > than 64x and 8x AA who give absolutely no difference on visual quality with 16x tesselation level... at least got the choice on the game menu.

( there's still the tricks for AA on the *ini anyway for Nvidia users)

I saw the same like a dag ago on Reddit...

FFS i am gaming with Hairworks on and getting ~35/55fps and now lowend AMD cards can run the game better and smoother then me :3eyes:.
When im in the woods or lets say fighting the Griffin

Manuel/Nvidia ?!?!!? give us this option too, i would be a happy gamer once again!

Settings: 1080P, Vsync, HBAO+, All Ultra and PostP on, Foliage distance (high).

As i have write it allready, i think there's a good chance they implement an option on the game menu ( normal, high ) who set the tesselation and AA level for hair at a lower value on the future.

Will be good specially for Nvidia users of midrange gpu's... they could use gamework with a bit less hit.

Maybe we're looking at a "sneak peak" on DX12 and that's why hairworks it's functional on AMD cards? Anyway, as an NVIDIA user (I even have Shield tabet... such fanboy) I have to say that they're not famous for their LTS on their propietary techs, I think that proof is Physx, it's great, yes, but no real improvement on the tech has been done since... 02, maybe?

My Titan is not a Midrange gpu ...

Look at this, they tested it with a 7950 and the same settings im running :bang:

Look over at http://wc*c*ftech.com/amd-announces...driver-coming-boost-tessellation-performance/ (remove the * *, if hilbert doesnt mind.)

Lool, was more thinking to 760-960 users , not you.

Well, i have see this benchmark round too, i will surely keep 16x, as really, there's no difference visually with 64x ( and the bigger performance gain ( 30% )..

I sold my 780Ti's and are using an HD7950 Asus card and this game runs awful at 2560x1440. Pretty much high 20's with the card overclocked to 1000mhz. Man I wish the 390x and the 980Ti would launch soon.

I don't understand you guys : you are ready to downgrade the hole game, just to use hairworks. Why then this all f*** NVidia. Downgrading tessellation from x64 to 4 or 8, is like using dx9 instead of 11. Of corse, the game will run better, but you really want that ?

I'm not using hairworks. It would make this game a complete slide show.

yes, I am running it with 6x tessellation limit. Water is just fine like that.

+1. This parameter impacts the whole game not just airs.
CDprojekt has to implement a slider for that specific option only.
    That is the best option.

On my side I cannot use Hairwork. Tesselation engine on my old 680 is too weak.

The "AA" thing in the ini file refers to multisample anti-aliasing or MSAA which is the newest enhancement to Nvidia hairworks, oddly enough you can adjust the MSAA level from the default of 8x to 4x, 2x or 0x but there's no in-game setting for controlling this.

Tessellation refers to hardware tessellation via DX11 which is used for two things in this game, hairworks (Apparently at 64x samples.) and water or rather the ocean water, lakes and such use a simpler model though it's still dynamic.
(Ultra quality is 64 samples, High is 32 lower than that also reduces another setting for water quality.)

PCGH.de did a article about this as well:

    http://www.pcgameshardware.de/The-W...rks-fluessig-AMD-Radeon-Grafikkarten-1159466/
(With a link to a 3DCenter user who did a performance test of the various settings - http://www.forum-3dcenter.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=10632951#post10632951 )

Also has a tessellation comparison picture:

    http://www.pcgameshardware.de/The-W...-Radeon-Grafikkarten-1159466/galerie/2376253/

(After 8x tessellation the differences are pretty much unnoticeable though it might be different for the ocean water.)

That tesselation x2 looks so awful.
