What I can decipher by that is that the driver posted by Asder is not the final version, and it already had a nice boost for Pcars, so I am a bit hopeful. It is more a matter of mismanagement and resource allocation from the higher ups, than actual ability. AMD is producing amazing things hardware wise. They are behind the two new PC APIs, the four console APIs, and probably the best compute GPU architecture of the last decade. I don't buy the "they don't have the ability" theory. I can buy the "the management are incompetent", or the "driver money is for X amount of people and that's it" theory, but not the "they don't know how" theory. Is the hardware more easily "fed", or is the driver thread 4 times smarter? GCN is iterative. Pitcairn will be in the R9 300 series, it really has no reason not to. GCN 1.0 is more programmable than Maxwell.
