i more or less skipped the whole Vista thing, but last night i installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RTM. i must say im impressed sofar, seems very stable. only issue i've found thus far is my F-Secure security isnt fully compatible yet. i had to go AVG 8.5 free version for now.

also i can finally use all my ram :) going to test a few games shortly, i'll post back when and if i find any issues ... oh and ya, i can finally test DX10!!! kool, forgot about that ;)

Did this happen with your previous OS or just 7?

I would try diagnosing the HD and RAM.

Nope, no issues in Vista at all. And everything else is working just fine.. No broken memory or hdd issues, would be something as well as just a specific program crashing.

Hello . I have instaled win7 a weak ago. Runs great with programs, drivers works, no blue screens. 3DMark score is a liitle higer on this windows than xp. Games work fine, but in call of duty 2 and 4 i have big fps drop. I reinstaled directx and last drivers from download section. What is the problem?

Since your card is not that powerful I suggest lowering the in game grahical details.

Exactly the same happened to me yesterday, bugged me for a while, couldn't do anything at all so ended up rebooting my comp and... now it seems to be fine... so far.

I remember doing this in Vista without changing anything.
I don't have NOD32 or AV so guess it's not those programs fault.

Now that I'm here. A question.

Is there anyway to be able to pull a window offscreen, just enough so only the tittle bar it's hidden (offscreen), without windows moving it back?
I run a couple of games in windowed mode and the bottom part of the window gets hidden, so I either have to live with it or play on a smaller resolution.

Guys, i will install windows 7 on my friends system tomm which has this INTEL DG965WH mobo. Just one quick question, will the Realtek HD Audio driver work on it? Since i don't know what audio chip is present on that mobo im unsure.

Hm, unless it's not a weird unsupported sound chip, it should install automatically. Good luck.

Here's the support page for that mobo: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dg965WH/

I've tried looking fro drivers through 'Search for all latest drivers' and it seems like there's still no audio drivers for Windows7 for that board (only chipset, raid, ...)..so good luck with that install, let's hope that OS has them build-in or that the generic audio driver will work till they'll release any official one for it.

And no, that board doesn't have a Realtek chip AFAIK.

You might try Vista drivers from link in Sieras post.

But first check if Win7 has them build-in or use Windows Update to install them.
Atleast Windows Update catalog lists SigmaTel HD audio codec drivers for Windows 7

    http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=sigmatel%20windows%207

    From Motherboards manual

Had this issue too, but the problem was that i installed Daemon Tools Lite (SPTD v.1.60), after i uninstalled it via Safe Mode, everthing worked again pretty fine.

Don't have DTools! I do have Virtual CloneDrive though and actually thought about that it might be that causing the issue. Perhaps that installs SPTD as well, will check it out.

    Thanks!

So I installed Windows 7 on Saturday but for some reason my HD kept hanging/lagging for about 30seconds or slowing down. I've read other forums saying to put the power settings on Maximum but that didnt do the trick.

Found out it was something to do with AHCI not being enabled by default with Windows 7 as it was on Vista. So heres what I did.

    - Went onto my BIOS and set it to IDE
    - Booted to Windows
    - Ran Regedit
    - Went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
    - Change the "Start" value to 0
    - Rebooted and went to BIOS
    - Set BIOS to AHCI
    - Started Windows again
    - It loaded some Windows drivers and it'll ask you to reboot after redetecting.
    - After restart I went and installed Intel Matrix Storage (or whatever your motherboard uses)
    - Restart...

And after that everything seems to be smoother, faster and in working order :).

AHCI mode has to be enabled for intel mobos if you are using vista or win7.

For the most part but I had it disabled on bios when I was using Vista and I ran that for 7 months straight without a hitch and it didnt give me errors till two days ago when I installed 7, but everything is working now :).

AHCI does not need to be enabled...

U can use SATA/IDE or RAID.
