The "Why Don't You Like Modern Warfare(1-3)" Thread

Graphics and gameplay are just as important as each other.

Really good graphics but crap gameplay does not make a good game, nor does outdated graphics and great gameplay make for a good game. Problem with COD is its just like most other games out there, poor graphics relying on game engine and driver features to improve them, resulting in much higher CPU and GPU use than what should be needed.

When I was playing Rage the other day, the first thing that struck me at the beginning was how bad the textures actually were! at least when moving up close to the walls you get the nostalgia of Doom 2 . Although this is being sarcastic, its unfortunate that its actually not too far from the truth!

In terms of COD games, I quite enjoy playing them, for me the Singleplayer component is what I play. Its not that I don't have interest in multiplayer, its just that it requires a different commitment in playing. That, and the fact that it depends on the game servers since I'm in Australia and playing on American servers etc its just too laggy to be enjoyable. Luckily for console users lag doesn't matter so much since the gameplay is inherently much more 'clumsy' which is then compensated by the engine.

 

I'm a fan of both series and have been playing them both since the beginning of both franchises.

They are both Military First Person Shooters, after that they don't really compare at all. They are two completely different games with different methods of bringing the action.

COD is in your face non stop action in both the MP and the SP. Its meant to be quick and close. Its a game where if I have 15 minutes to spare I can play it and finish a round or two and get on with my day. You can't really do that with BF

BF is meant to be more open and a little more slower with some tactical skills required. They are created for two different crowds of people.

I like the BF series more because DICE actually adds good stuff to there games and makes them better instead of Activisions method of just **** out the same game with the same ****ty old engine and swim in the cash.

As games though I find them both good. As developers I will always prefer DICE. Both publishers are kinda shady and have done bad **** in the past but EA is a lot better of the two evils. Hell, at least they try new games with all the crazy money they make. Activision just makes sequel after sequel.

I second this, yet for what it's worth I found CoD4 (mw1) the last enjoyable CoD game, everything after... BK sydrome.

Full games=/=expansions, arcade, FTP, etc.

Also CoD has more of that overpriced 15$ DLC then what you posted.

 

Not mentioning that, from 1942 to Vietnam = big change. Vietnam to BF2 = big change. BF 2 to Bad Company = Big change. Bad Company to BF3 = big change.

While on CoD. CoD 1 to CoD 2, big change. CoD 2 to CoD 3, the same. CoD 3 to CoD 4, big change. CoD WaW is not a big change considering CoD 2. And CoD BO and MW3, the same as CoD 4.

There is a difference between a dev that wants to make a new game, and one who wants to repeat the game.

Anyway, that wouldnt bother me if i liked it i guess. The thing is that i dun like its gameplay, its feel. Its too bland, feels weird in PC. While other shooters, like STALKER series, and recently Rage, feel good playing in PC. Its just the style that i dont like. Thats why i didnt liked BC2, it felt more like CoD than Battlefield 2.

I would really love to play BF3 though (if my system permits), but I'd play MW3 first. I kinda miss Soap's lovely accent

Back to topic: the only thing i didnt like in MW2 was why did they have to kill Ghost

 

I actually do like Call of Duty in all of its iterations. I find the campaigns fairly fast paced and entertaining (but you have to play on hard difficulties) and same with multiplayer. Yeah, the graphics are the same COD4 engine rehashed and I wish they would update the graphics since MW2 and BlackOps run at hundreds of FPS

i only played MW2 single player and thought it was great. each level was different and entertaining enough to keep me itnerested

 

I never really hated cod series just the mp I find to be a joke with the killstreaks but they were nice at the beginning.

 

I hate it just like eclap does. Everyone I meet has an xbox and plays whatever the latest CoD is and act like they're pro and laugh when I mention how PC's are better etc. When you've dedicated as much time to CounterStrike as I have and played leagues, it's a real kick in the teeth to have to argue with the idiots who just dismiss it as crap

CoD2 was the last good one for me. Now all CoD is, is lots of guys sprinting through corridors and rooms hoping not to get shot in the back and just spraying anyone that appears on the screen ><

 

what i dont like about cod?

its not the online or the SP i can addapt to anytype of MP. u wont see me crying cause there is a camper on a corner i will find a way to get him sooner or later. u wont see me crying either because someguy doing killstreaks either. everyone can do them its part of the game. u wont see me crying cause of heartbeat monitors what has its advantages also has its disadvantages. this are the typical cries of a people towards cod. I dont mind this things like i said i can addapt to different MP games.

what bothers me is the yearly release of this games the lack of changes in it, the price i must pay for what feels like a cod 4 DLC. i am not a money dispensing cow and i would like to get more from my game before it is replaced by the same game with diferent perks.
