it was way overpriced and if you look in the market here in lebanon, no one buys that card... so im afraid im not gonna be able to resell it given 40 series will be cheaper by next year, resell value of the 6800xt is really a nightmare, u would lose a lot.
Here in Serbia 6800xt holds the higher average price than a 3080. It is more in demand as it has 16gb vram.
in lebanon there s basically no demand for amd card, at all, it s so hard to sell and there s no offer anw in the used market, u would find only 1 item used, while there are so so many 3080s
None of those have warranty. There is some 3090's around here but all past miner cards very much used up. Better to go with brand new 4070, it may even cost less.
The vram debate for me is, you should get rx 6800xt and nothing less if u wanna clear out the headache of playing with rt on and not filling up ur v ram
Just look how close is to that 12gb usage if you enable RT even on low. I think 3080 would be having issues here at these settings. Without RT at 3440x1440 game is using 9.5gb vram max settings and fluid motion frames are enabled. Deer Diner - night scene RT OFF - 9.5gb vram - 110FPS RT ON - 11+gb vram - 70fps
Is he on 3440x1440 or 2560x1440? Significant difference. 2560x1440 = 3.69m pixels 3440x1440 = 4.95m pixels (34% more) and will obviously use more vram. A 3080 for 2560x1440 even with RT in the game is ahead of AMD 16gb cards: Spoiler So if he side-grades to an AMD 16gb card, his RT experience will even be worse. If he is on 3440x1400p, he can only do raster and the 6800xt will have an advantage in vram hungry games. Oddly enough though, in this game, even at 4k raster, the 3080 10gb is doing better than the AMD 16gb cards. Spoiler Of course things will vary from game to game, and some games simply do better on AMD or Nvidia regardless of VRAM. There may be a very few games where the 16gb makes a difference vs the 10 gb card at 2560x1440 but I would think they are very few. Certainly not worth the side-grade from a 3080 to a 6800xt for.
yes i am , because it s using 9.3 vram without rt in alan wake 2 my next build would be, i5 14600kf and rx 6800xt, in order to play new warzone at 170 fps in any scenario without issues
Its dynamically allocating vram according to card capacity, which is what games should do, adding extra buffer whether the game needs it or not. Would be an odd side-grade to move to a 6800xt for one game with not much difference vs 3080 in benchmarks. Spoiler
The DCS Flight Sim series is a beast at this, it will use absolutely all of the VRam available to pre-cache and a significant amount of RAM if its available, ive had the VRam on my 4090 almost maxed and well over 35gb or RAM used as well.
I would also not recommend sidegrading from 3080 to 6800xt if one wants to upgrade one of these two cards he should be looking atleast 4070ti super or 7900xt.
