Still not really an accurate representation, and once again the truth is somewhere in the middle, again I still think there is some issue with your setup regarding temperatures (could just be ambient room temp being high though) Also, the 9900k doesn't NEED to be overclocked to be a good gaming cpu, especially at 4k or for gaming on lower refresh rate 1080p or 1440p monitors, I have two friends running 9900k's with RTX 2080Ti's both who absolutely NEVER overclock their systems and they get within 2-3fps of nearly all benchmarks I have seen for their cards with the exception for 1080p very high fps games or 1440p very high fps games where the cpu becomes the bottleneck, since they both game on 3440x1440 monitors this isn't really an issue.

Nice to see you stopped dramatizing everything though and talking about console level graphics.

I believe what you say is what you have experienced though, the problem is, your experience seems to be the exception to the norm or at the very least slightly exaggerated or totally focused on the bad examples and none of the good, I don't like that you seem fixated on the few examples of it not doing 60fps 4k and ignore the majority of games where it does, and an unwillingness to concede that having to do a mix of ultra and high doesn't make a card unable to be considered a 4k 60fps card in the 3-5 games where it may not do 4k 60fps at ultra settings 100% of the time. Also if you aren't getting over 60fps nearly all the time in GTA V something is wrong, though to be fair if you mean stuttering and frame time lag? well yeah GTA V is terrible for that with high end systems, its a well known problem that only gets worse the lower the resolution and higher the framerate gets, generally the best way to fix it is to framecap the game, though it can also get stuttering issues and choppy gameplay from cpu problems (bad cpu overclock, 100% cpu usage issue, e.t.c) its an old engine that often has issues with newer hardware.

And I will also point out that I repeatedly stated that there were 3 - 5 games that may require settings to be dropped to achieve 100% stable 60fps at 4k, also its not just "old" games that run 4k 60fps many newer titles also run 4k 60fps just fine, in fact two of the games that don't run well at 4k 60fps are actually older titles. I dislike that you have twisted what I have said into your fantasy version of what I have been saying and ignoring all the facts that have been stated its very condescending not based in fact and designed to aggravate and insult me and others that were just trying to correct your over dramatization (console graphics e.t.c)

Your original statements basically made the card sound like it was a failure at 4k, needed to be reduced to console graphics levels to get 60fps, and was more suited to 1440p 60fps, which is blatantly untrue, its much more powerful than that and can do *most* new and old games at 4k 60fps stable max settings and in the few games it cant, lowering the settings to high fixes the issue, which is still worlds better than "console" graphics, and it can perform much better at 1440p than 60fps as well.

Though you dropped talking about it being a 1440p card or console references or anything else in this last post, so maybe you did get what we were saying?

Anyhows, glad you enjoy your card.

Trolling as in you are acting immature and making false statements that really serve no purpose other than to argue with people. I'm done here. Enough off topic bs.
I'm finding the unofficial msi trio bios on that page that I posted works very well for me. Not sure if that bios is similar or not but I finally can get my oc stable. I have a msi trio.

    Hi there

Are you using or running MSI Gaming Trio or Gaming X Trio because first one is 330W BIOS and second one is 406W BIOS but not sure if second one can be used on reference PCB just due Gaming X Trio have 2x8 pin and extra 6 pin, which us similar to Galax HoF and several others and they usually have well above 400W BIOS

I'm happy with Galax 380W BIOS, stable clocks enough for my needs although my GPU is bit dud and doesn't OC well, VRAM on other hand 1000MHz easy

    Hope this helps

    Thanks, Jura

I didn't tried Gaming X Trio on my GPU, only Galax 380W which is OK and tried these BIOS on few cards abd they work quite well for me

    Hope this helps

New oc results with the unoficial bios in shadow of the tomb raider. Pretty much the same as what I was getting before but that was with a memory plus core oc which was unstable. Now I am only overclocking the core and pushing it far enough to give me the same results. This is being done with 3840x2160 resolution and smaa.

Here it is at max settings, smaa, 3840x2160. This is a super demanding game and I personally find it amazing that a single card can do this.

Bit the bullet and got the Strix GTX 2080TI 11gb. I made the biggest noob mistake. This goes to show you how important it is to uninstall your current drivers in safe mode.

Got home, uninstalled without safe mode, put the 2080ti, installed drivers and was shocked to see it was performing WORSE than my 1080TI. So uninstalled drivers again in safe mode this time, installed and bam! working like a champ.

Have been able to get a +145 on the core and +100 on the memory, sitting at 2100mhz on the core.

Really happy with the performance of this card, anything I throw at it - it blows it out of the water. Even my 1080ti was having trouble going above 100 in most cases in BFV at 2k. With the 2080TI I get roughly 120-150 constant during explosions and what not which has made me so happy.

My other specs really compliment the cards potential, so hoping this will last for years to come!

Glad to hear it! Finally somebody excited about hardware advancements, even if the price is unreasonable for most.

Sage advice regarding safe mode and drivers, I've run into the same kind of thing over the years. Lastly, for your OC did you mean +100 or +1000 on the memory clocks?

Yeah thanks. It is expensive indeed, but well worth the money (for me).

I use Asus gpu tweak, set +140 on the core and +100 on the memory, which I assume is a plus 1000 in memory terms?

Well 16 days has passed since i got my 2080Ti and it's still very much alive ( knock on wood ). Been bench extremely hard at subsero temperatures , played very long hours of gaming sessions daily , stress test the hell out of it and i hope it keeps going like this for a couple of years just like my old 1080Ti did.

On another note , the Phantek Glacier full cover water block i'm liking it a lot , excellent build quality and great temps all around, max temperatures i have seen after 4 hours non stop gaming on it is 48c with a max overclock , average at 42c , overvolt to 1.093v with the Galax 380w Bios and is performing like a beast. Forza Horizon 4 at 4k resolution Ultra settings maxed out with HDR enable average 95fps / max 110fps / min 87fps. Excellent card for full 4K gaming.

Well, I believe GDDR6 is quad or octo pumped to get to its final clock speed but I'm referring to the fact that several online reviewers have been able to push the 14GHz stock memory speeds up to 16GHz in some cases. Mostly Samsung modules, I'm unsure on what the Micron's can achieve.

Glad to hear it is working well! FH4 is a *beautiful* game @ 4k and max settings. I do have to ask, how did you get HDR to work properly? I've had zero luck, with it just completely ruining the colors no matter what calibration I do.

Also, I'm assuming you had to break down your card to some degree to get your cooling on it. Did you happen to notice if you had Samsung or Micron memory? Have you found a max memory OC?

This is my first post so welcome everyone. ;)
I am computer graphic artists specialising in fluid simulations (both on CPU and GPU). Time has come for me change my good old GTX 1060 to RTX 2080ti
    but...
I need to ask "proper" people about two cards.
Could someone explain me main difference between cooling techniques between cards with:
    - two or three big fans
    - one 8-12 cm fan (used in old days in quadro cards)

Is there any difference between those two versions in fan life expectancy / noise / efficiency in cooling ?

Thank you very much for any help.

I can't answer for life expectancy but the old style blower cards (the ones with 1 fan like quadro) exhaust the hot air out the back of the case while the newer style with 2-3 fans blow the hot air back into your case. My experience with the blower style is that they were louder and ran slightly hotter but overall they run fine.

Welcome! Hopefully we can help you out. In my experience, a well built heatsink with 2 bigger fans has been best. Blower style, as @nhlkoho mentions, exhaust the heat but tend to be louder. The axial style, 2 or 3 fans, dump all of the heat in your case but tend to be quieter and achieve lower temperatures.

My recent GPU experience (past 5 years or so) is as follows:

R9 280 - 3 fan Powercolor model, VaporX maybe? It was cool, even when overclocked, but was clearly audible even with game audio on speakers. Settled around 74C when fully utilized in games in ~27C ambient.

R9 290 - 2 fan HIS model. Ended up a slight bit quieter than the 280, but temps settled around 78C when overclocked and under full gaming load.

RX 480 - MSI model, but using the reference blower cooler. This was a build I helped a friend with, and it is noisy and hot at stock speeds. Sounds like a vacuum is in a distant room of your house, while hovering (hoovering? ;) ) in the mid 80's temperature wise.

980Ti - EVGA model with adequate heatsink and 2 fans. Was somewhat noticeable noise wise during full gaming load, with temps sitting at about 75C. Once overclocked, it became apparent that the cooling solution was not up to the task, with the fans being like little jets and temps still reaching nearly 80C!

1080 - MSI Gaming X, with extended height heatsink and 2 large diameter fans. This card was wonderfully quiet and cool at stock. Ended up around 69C-71C under full gaming load while being basically silent. Once overclocked, noise just barely became noticeable if I listened for it and temps settled around 76C.

1080Ti - EVGA FTW3, so a rather lengthy but strictly 2 slot heatsink with 3 smaller fans. This card is great, but makes more noise than the 1080 I had. I assume it is a combination of the smaller fans having a more pronounced sound along with the TDP increase going from 1080->1080Ti. Nothing terrible, but I can hear the fans if the game doesn't have a lot of sound going on, and temps settle around 70C stock and 73C when overclocked.

As for your life expectancy concerns, modern GPU's are made to save themselves from bad thermal situations and should last anywhere from 5-10 years under normal usage. That being said, obviously lower temperatures will never be a bad thing for longevity. Could you tell or show us what case you will have this 2080Ti in?

    Thank you guys. Appreciate it.

Well case is Fractal Design XL R2 Black with 5 FD fans already installed. Asus workstation MB with 2 Xeon E5, lots of RAM and HDD/SSD,Enermax Platimax 1000W. All run on Linux
With all those additional fans noise is quite noticable but not like disturbing noise. Well it is a workstation for heavy stuff not gaming. And airflow inside the case is rather correct and even under heavy work its cool insie.

I only care about CUDA cores rather then "ray tracing". I will not use RTX for gaming. And for that Titan V could be the best option but it is way to expensive.

    Hi Angelo

What clocks did you able to achieve?

2100MHz or around that figure is my best OC with +1000MHz on VRAM, in rendering I'm running 2055MHz which are seems are stable enough

I don't do lots of benches, mostly some gaming and rendering but my issues are mostly driver related and TDR, in gaming no issues, just in rendering I have got issues

On other hand temperatures are 38-42°C depending on ambient but usually in 39-42°C, with very low ambient seen 36°C as well, running like you are Galax 380W BIOS, just played Quantum Break and temperatures I have seen in 38-39°C as max, in Just Cause 4 I have seen 38-40°C as max but there I see in 1440p low GPU usage which is bit strange

Agree with Phanteks Glacier WB, excellent build quality if you compare to EK Vector RTX WB

Glad you happy with RTX 2080Ti

    Hope this helps

    Thanks, Jura

@BuildeR2 , i just enable HDR in windows settings and in the game menu that's all , no calibration needed, everything looks great in HDR 4K , might be down to the display to render HDR correctly. I'm using a 65" Samsung KS8000 4K UHD HDR TV as my display. The game is a master piece and beautiful made. I have Samsung memory on my 2080Ti.

@jura11 , for gaming my max clocks are 2125Mhz/2025Mhz average temps at ~42c with higher ambient temps ~23c , for 3DMark benchmarks 2220/2125Mhz but then it becomes power limited by the 380w Galax bios as it throttles down when i try to run 2235Mhz on the core , also it becomes voltage limited around those clocks too at 1.093v is not enough :( . Yes my friend i'm very happy with the Phanteks Glacier WB , it is very well made no cnc machining marks anywhere in the cooper and acrylic and it is a thicker block than the EK , more cooper means better temps ,also it is a very low resistence block as the water flow is not impacted by this WB on my loop. Definitely one of the most beautiful water blocks i have ever owned.

    Kind Regards: Angelo
