On my way to pick up a 2080ti trio. My friend managed to get me one.
Its always a balancing act between cheaper multiple cards vs cost, practicality to run, etc, but there is a point where it can be more profitable to do so. Its why there was huge demand for RX570, 580 and gtx1070 cards at the peak of eth mining several months ago.
Just got my hands on a 2080ti msi trio. Benchmarks and pictures incoming for those interested.
That's nothing special. A GTX 1080 Ti can do 50 Mh/s with EthLargementPill (which tightens up the memory timings to reduce GDDR5X latency).
Yeah you're also right about that. I completely forgot, that one 2080Ti uses as much energy as one 1080, so even from that side it'd be better for miners. I guess they all preordered
I'm so jelly! Congrats!
According to Amazon, mine is "Arriving today by 8PM", but I know it's not true. Some part of me believes it's real and that the delivery guy will make a surprise visit.
Thanks guys. Just got back and put the gpu in my system. Setting up drivers and I'll do some 4k benches later on. Here's some pics. Can't believe I am saying this but I love the RGB on it.
Pics in the spoiler
Amazon just told me that it will arrive no later than.... the 27th of october!
Time to make queues elsewhere....
Just ran a few quick games and I got to say for those of you waiting, it's worth the wait. The performance is way better than the 1080ti at 4k. I just ran mirror edge catalyst max settings lowest AA at 4k and it played perfect. It definitely used to drop below 60 on the 1080ti. Shadow of the tomb raider as well. In the village areas, perfect performance at 4k with everything set to max except Screen space contact shadows are off and smaa. Haven't went below 60 yet but if I did, lowering shadows to normal seems like it would definitely keep 60fps. Not to mention, I haven't gotten around to overclocking yet. You guys wouldn't be disappointed if you're gaming in 4k. I'll post benches tomorrow as it's already past midnight.
Cool man, glad you're enjoying it
evga 2080Ti's are back in stock if anyone's looking. In their store.
This lack of cards is just encouraging these scalping wankers, the second any go on sale, they are immediately bought.
Pretty funny considering many people said they wouldn't sell at that price, seems the opposite is true, they can't keep them on the shelves.
I wouldn't buy off the EVGA site because of the "1 per household" limit but they were gone within about 5 minutes of posting, Newegg had a bunch last night, they went on sale at 3:20 a.m., they were gone by 3:40 a.m.
Good job Nvidia
Managed to get a Gigabyte OC card from ebuyer earlier at a reasonable price. Coming tomorrow. Looked at overclockers and they're charging £1400 for every card. Rip off!
Nice one mate, enjoy
As promised, here's a few quick 4k benchmarks for those interested. These are all at stock speed with no overclocking. I'll get to overclocking and more benchmarks later. Putting it in the spoiler so it doesn't clutter the thread.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Far Cry 5
I had no intention of upgrading to these but one of my Titan X pascal cards developed a fault and wouldn’t go past 133Mhz so the retailer has agreed to partially refund me for both cards, and I’ll pay the difference for a pair of EVGA 2080Ti XC Gaming cards, only problem being that NVLink bridges seem thin on the ground, nobody except Nvidia seems to stock them and the 4 slot versions are out of stock.
I got a 3 slot and a 4 slot 2 days ago (from Nvidia) so I doubt you'll have to wait long.
Thanks mate, sharing those benches is much appreciated
Enjoy your card!
