    Overheating?

    Oh and disable the 'Automatically restart' option in the System Properties > Advanced Settings > Startup and Recovery, so you could see the BSOD which you are probably getting, it may give helpful info here.

    That seem like significant improvement. I will definately give it a go tonight and post back results. Thanks!

    hi mate thanks for replying + before i used the multi tweak i use to get loads of pauses/breaks for milli seconds at a time (stuttering)lol, and since ive changed these setting i got 1 stuttering in a full 45mins of gaming as i do

    so it looks all good and the settings made quiet abit of difference + my min frames was a lot higher in demanding areas

    these are the setting u need to change none of the others(Loading Tweaks/Memory Tweaks) as i have tried these yet

    Multithreading Tweaks:

    bUseThreadedBlood=1
    bUseThreadedMorpher=1
    bUseThreadedTempEffects=1
    bUseThreadedParticleSystem=1
    bUseMultiThreadedTrees=1
    bUseMultiThreadedFaceGen=1
    iNumHavokThreads=5
    iThreads=9
    iOpenMPLevel=10

    EDIT

    could u post ur fraps score twice for each setting like i have so i can see what ur card can do + what u run the game at

    I did all the ini. file mods, memory + loading + multithreads. My FPS went from 24 - 31 to 26 - 33 in one area I tested. The stutters that were common became very few and overall I like what I saw. Definately will be keeping this tweak from now on!

    Nice screens guys. And those .ini tweaks are very old, but it's nice to see someone try them and even testing them (even though it's Damien ;) )

    I don't know about tweaks. I found out a lot of tweaks on tweaksites don't work for my system. (some do, like the grass tweak and multithreading tweaks on my laptop. They don't work on my desktop, even though I can enable them. It's just that nothing really improves :p)

    If you want to see if both cores are being used, open the task manager (ctrl-alt-del) and run the game while it's enabled. It'll probably use one core more than the other, nothing you can do about that. In Oblivion itself you can use the "~" key to open the console and type "TDT" (without the brackets) and it will show framerate and videocard memory use.
    (this is handy to see if you don't exceed the video memory too much. My Oblivion install used over 400mb with Qarls textures before I installed the reduced normal maps for his pack. This caused much stuttering. Now I've only have certain parts of his pack installed, the used memory seldom passes the 256mb border (that's the amount of mem on my 7800GS) and there's almost no stuttering now.

    And it has nothing to do with liking you or not. You just ask a lot of questions which you could have googled easier. I point that out to you, but that doesn't mean I like you or not :)

    same here, it's not that i don't like damien, it's just that he asks a lot of useless questions.

    I've been using those tweaks since the day they were released (except the multi-core tweaks). I must say that combining the Natural Environments mod with the Depth Of Field mod really makes it look a whole lot better.

    Getsuga, Grom,
    There are people who join late to the party, who are catching up so to speak. The .ini mods were very effective in improving game performance for me, which for Oblivion is godsend. It would be good to promote the mods' effectiveness more, and explicitly, so that newer gamers can benefit - along with other mods mentioned on pages 1&2. Thanks.

    wow, it uses both cores evenly but not either one is maxed out. hmm, my single core is maxed 95% of the time and it's at friggin 2.8ghz.

    yep and i have to say loads better performance from using both cores instead of just 1

    edit:

    i cant wait for vista 64bit so i can get 2gb more ram and them we can see how much ram oblivion really needs lol
