The most amazing statue ever - StarCraft fans will appreciate this!

Haha, I can't say I really disagree about the general sentiment towards modern-day ActivisionBlizzard. But I have to give Blizzard some credit for Warcraft 1&2 and the Diablo series.

Alright I think people are going overboard with their praise for this statue. I admit it's a cool looking video game character, but the title of this thread is "The most amazing statue ever" and people are raving about its "artistic value." This thing was probably modeled on a computer and machined out of plastic. It stands on a huge ass base and probably has metal support rods up the legs to make it stand up. It's not like Blizzard chiseled this thing out of marble by hand or something.

Look i am pretty sure everyone knows what is good art. So there is no point for you to argue about the topic. We are talking about this model and nothing else. Its not like we dont understand what a good sculpture is.... is....alright.

 

While it probably wasn't sculpted by hand, it was definitely airbrushed by hand. The simple fact that the airbrushing was so well done to the point where the statue looks realistic, if not real, is jaw dropping.

 

Wow, so much hate for Blizzard. I don't care much for WoW, but their other games are top notch, and at least they're still all about the PC.

You don't see Bliz creating Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 for the 360 and porting it to pc. They're like the last bastion of PC glory or something.

 

The artists are embracing modern day tools of our time, it still has a high artistic value, time, knowledge, effort are all encorporated.

 

You're right about them currently developing only for the PC platform, but how long will that last? When Bobby Kotick decides they could make more money developing for the Xbox, that's what will happen.

The old Blizzard and Blizzard North that made the original Warcraft games and Diablo 1/2 are long gone. The talent behind those games has moved onto other things in the last decade. Blizzard is pretty much a WoW factory now. Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 are promising because they look very similar to their predecessors but with better graphics. When Blizzard has to innovate, create new IP's, significantly change current IP's, or move to multiplatform development, the quality of their games will go downhill fast.

So, people are hating them for what they MIGHT do, years from now? No wonder everyone is going toward consoles. We as pc gamers have become a bunch of jaded pricks.

 

That statue is both ugly and cool.

Blizzard always ported some lower version of their games to some consoles, including Warcraft 2 and Diablo for PSX and Starcraft 64 for N64. They always considered selling their products on the console market but their games arent that console friendly.

People hate ports and mouse just never caught onto consoles

blizzard would have to make a First person game or game that matches more for the controllers ... which they seem to have no plan for releasing anything in that vein in the next what 4 years ?

If you get hard on realistic statues, take a look at real works of art not some plastic mold painted by some school kid. http://www.hemmy.net/2006/04/12/ron-mueck-photo-realistic-sculptures/. Give credit where credit is due, not some money hungry self-indulged company like Blizzard who's only pure interest is to inflate their stock and bank accounts.

Ok I lose, but I still hate Blizzard and this just made me lose respect for Steve in a big way.

 

If that thing shows up at my door I'd definitely hit it - with a sword or something else that does a lot of damage.
